While some customers have experienced issues with service or specific menu items, the majority of reviews praise the establishment for its delicious sandwiches, reasonable prices, and nostalgic atmosphere. Many patrons have been loyal customers for years and appreciate the high-quality meats and cheeses used in their sandwiches. While the restaurant has faced some changes over time, including the closure of its dining room, it continues to hold a special place in the hearts of those who grew up eating there. If you're in the Roanoke area, a visit to The New Yorker is highly recommended for a taste of classic deli fare at an affordable price.
I'll never go back. Yesterday my friend went to lunch. she ordered the torpedo and the hot German kartoffel salad. I ordered a page of cole Slav and 1 page mac salat. German potato salad after 20 min. then her sandwich then my mac salad. I sent the Mac salad back. I never have my Cole stole. said the cashier, about terrible service. I'll never be back.
We travel from pa to atlanta. we loved to use this app to find new and different places to eat on the way. so glad we chose this! great hospitality. great food. great price. we loved it
Must Have!. My husband grew up in Roanoke but we have lived out of state for over 20 years. Every time we are in town, our must have food stop is at the New Yorker. We get the same thing every time, baked Italian sub with slaw instead of shredded lettuce. It is so good! (We do wish they had the old seasame buns that they replaced a few years ago) We recommend highly but don 't plan in a visit over 4th of July when they take their annual family vacation break. (Unfortunately we know this week well)
Christmas eve. Been trying for a hour to call in order but the phone is of the hook. Won't be calling ever again and I've known some of the kitchen staff and you don't want to eat there either!
Not good for out of town guests. First time,.last time... Saddwich was good but if you are from out of town make sure you stoo by the atm because it's cash only. I don't take cash on me especially in this day and time especially traveling like I do. Oh well.. on to the next place.
