This was the first time that I have actually dined in here although they've catered us at work plenty of times. The food is great. Always fresh and always a lot! Dined in this time. You have the option of ordering at the counter or ordering by app at your table and someone will bring it to you. It's tucked away in a small shopping strip mall. Good parking. Nice and quiet area. I highly recommend if you want a casual,... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Mcalister's Deli:
I love McAlister?s Deli and normally dine at waynesboro,va location. I happened to be in Roanoke traveling for work and decided to order some dinner. No mistake. The quality of meal here was sub par. This was my tomato cucumber salad I was given. The pic on left was what I was given and pic on right is what the item normally looks like. I have noticed the quality of food when you order out has significantly declined.... View all feedback.
Food tasted good, table side ordering is very nice. I think my sandwich meat was inadvertently switched from corned beef to ham. I enjoyed it but i have a bad reaction to eating pork and didn't catch until later.
Placed our order at the counter from a hard to see overhead menu. Given a number, and self seated. Two of our entrees came pretty fast, and one entree that did not belong to our table arrived. Received a spoon for soup, but no forks for potatoes. I started up the counter but saw our server and mentioned we all needed forks. She quickly came with one fork, but we needed three. She seemed a little irritated with our request for 1 fork per person! One entree had still not arrived, so we all waited, while other tables received their orders. I overheard our server trying to give the sandwich we had ordered to another table, so spoke up and we finally got our final plate. Chicken salad sandwich seemed a little on the small side. Topped half spud and soup was tasty, but had to remove long stringy stems on spinach topping, and broccoli pieces were chunky and uncooked. The 1/2 potatoes were very large, and were not just a potato cut in half. The toppings were good and the cheddar broccoli soup was rich. I noted a full size spud at another table, and it was huge, taking up the whole plate. We needed to go boxes, and I inquired of our server, who was now at the front counter. She again showed an irritated face, but gave me the boxes. A few outdoor seating tables are available in front. Food was good, service was mediocre and disorganized, prices were a little high for lunch, restroom had trash all over the floor, but facilities seemed clean.
Everything on the menu here is delicious, prepared quickly and accurately. They keep a line moving, but I would recommend using the app for speed of service and convenience. Try the desserts, they?re amazing!
The wait was long. We enjoyed the raspberry pecan salad and the steamed broccoli. The French dip was bland and brownie/cookie desert was okay. Our order set in the window for a couple of minutes before being bagged to carry out.
UPDATE 10/15/21: I returned for dinner, and it was my son's first experience here. We enjoyed a wonderful, fresh, and healthy meal with plenty of options. I had my favorite dish: a half sandwich paired with a bowl of soup. If you're in the vicinity, I definitely recommend giving this place a try!
