A recent visit to a local Mexican restaurant in Ruskin revealed a disappointing experience marked by unremarkable food and a less-than-pleasant atmosphere. Patrons noted the cramped and unclean conditions, coupled with steep prices for basic items like burritos and tacos. The limited menu provided little appeal, lacking flavor and freshness, often likened to fast food offerings. With inconsistent service and an attitude that discourages new customers, diners left feeling unsatisfied, suggesting that there are likely better Mexican dining options nearby.

Was Ken K at S&s Taco a mag?
The only things I loved about living in Ruskin was living right on the river, the drive inn and having a Taco Salad every Friday night as a weekly treat- simple ingredients but yummy and huge portions View all feedback.
What Cindy M dislikes about S&s Taco:
Like other reviews, the ground beef had absolutely no flavor. Portions were generous but everything was put together then microwaved. Great salsa but store bought chips which was extremely disappointing. Restaurant appearance lacked cleanliness especially now days with sanitation is such a high priority. Neither employee wore masks and not much for customer service. Lots of food for not much money if that is what you... View all feedback.
I was always taught that if you can’t say anything nice, it’s better to stay quiet. As others have mentioned, this place is quite small and not the cleanest, with just one outdoor plastic picnic table. The prices are steep; for over $12.00 for a burrito, you would expect at least some tortilla chips on the side. The food didn’t impress me, but we gave it a shot, and now it's time to move on.
Having lived in South Texas for most of my life, I'm accustomed to excellent Mexican food. While traveling through Ruskin, I noticed a restaurant located on the corner, so I decided to stop by and try their wet burrito. It was a ground beef burrito (the only meat option offered) topped with cheese and beans. Unfortunately, the burrito didn't stand out at all, and neither did the beans. The rice was also quite disappointing. I’m sure there are better Mexican dining options available in the area.
I wouldn't recommend spending your money here. The food was disappointing and the service was poor. Honestly, even Taco Bell tastes better than this restaurant.
Atmosphere UGH! Ok, granted, the place does have a lot to work with. It is a takeout restaurant that is one half of a very small, very old building. However, that is no excuse for the condition of the restaurant. It looked and felt dirty. Service poor. There are 2 staff members. One takes the orders and payment and the other makes the food . I ordered 2 soft tacos with sour cream. When I bit into the first taco I found that there was no sour cream. Nor was there any on the second taco. When I went back to the restaurant and informed them of the situation the person that prepared the food offered a weak apology along with some excuse as to how this might have happened. To their credit, they did offer to give me two new tacos. Food Poor. Here is how they make the tacos. They have all of the ingredients (meat, cheese, etc) prepackaged and placed into a soft tortilla that is then microwaved for a minute or so. The meat and shell was lukewarm and quickly became cold. The meat was bland. Overall Never Again. To be honest, I would not return if the restaurant was giving the food away for free. Covid Practices Poor. When I entered the restaurant (wearing a mask), both staff members were wearing a mask. However, neither wore protective gloves! While waiting for my food, a customer walked in without a mask and nothing was said to him. When I later returned with the incorrectly made tacos, neither staff member was wearing a mask. This place is tiny and this should never be the case
First and last time customer. Have been driving by here for years and since the food truck we wanted to stop at was closed, we decided to try it. First off, I can't imagine that they pass code. The inside felt so dirty and I am wondering to myself why we even ordered food. I got two hard beef tacos. They come with seasoned beef, lettuce, tomato and salsa on the side. My taco crumbled everywhere and was nothing special. The beef wasn't really seasoned, so the whole taco was bland. Could have gone to Taco Bell and got the same thing for half the price. The food is already prepared and they just heat it in the microwave. Cheese doesn't even have enough warmth to melt. I can't remember the last time I gave a business a 1 star, but this place truly deserves it.
