The Boar’s Head
Description
The Boar’s Head is the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely meal, open daily from 12 noon. Whether you want to sit outside on the cobbles and watch the world go by with a beer or glass of wine after a stroll around the Castle’s Gardens and Grounds, or prefer a cosy seat inside, we have the ideal setting for you. Choose casual dining in the bar or a more formal experience in our dining room. Our a la carte menu highlights the best seasonal and local produce, offering something for everyone—from our famous Steak Black Sheep Ale pie to Sticky Fig Balsamic Salmon, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available. Vegan dishes are thoughtfully prepared using coconut milk in our curries, vegan cheese, potato buns for burgers, and beer in our batter, ensuring no cows, sheep, or goats are involved! For a lighter bite, our lunch menu is served Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 2.30pm, alongside the main menu for a wider selection. Sundays are special here at The Boar’s Head, with our Sunday menu and classic roast dinners available from 12 noon until 8pm. Families are warmly welcomed with a dedicated children’s menu featuring tasty burgers, chunky chips, delicious chocolate brownies, and even a mini-roast on Sundays. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome in the bar, but please note, we cannot reserve outdoor tables or the Snug. To avoid disappointment, we highly recommend booking ahead, especially on Bank Holidays and special occasions. For private dining enquiries or reservations, please speak to our team by calling 01423 771888 or 07741 651347. Finish your meal on a sweet note with our traditional Jam Roly Poly Custard, Toasted Hazelnut Praline Cheesecake, or a Trio of Local Cheeses with classic accompaniments. Our chefs have worked hard to create a memorable menu, including vegan dessert options. We look forward to welcoming you soon at The Boar’s Head, where great food and a warm atmosphere await.

Just quick lunch stop and found very good sandwiches, smoked salmon and cream cheese, and soup with great service. Other choices looked good.
Nice food and friendly staff price wise acceptable . Restaurant totally lacks any atmosphere, is messy, feels like you’re in an annex of a canteen… horrible table decorations. Tables in front of walls not windows, having a table cloth rather than a utilitarian mdf table might help.
Buzzing country pub. We ate in the bar area as we had our dog with us. Felt very welcome. We both had a roast dinner which was excellent.
Thoroughly enjoyable tasty lunch at The Boars Head, Ripley. The food was piping hot and in generous proprtions. We changed our table to the bar area at the last moment and the staff dealt with this, no fuss. The addition of the local Knaresborough Mummers was great fun. Meal for 3 with all accompaniments £60, and generous portions.
