Elephant & Castle - Richmond

During my recent trip to Vancouver, I visited this restaurant which is conveniently located within walking distance from the Marriott Pinnacle where I was staying.

I can't stop thinking about the Shepherd's Pie from this fantastic modern pub even after four months.

I was not impressed at all. The overall layout is strange and the tall chairs are not comfortable.

It's a bar, not really what I'd catergorize a restaurant. Upscale pub fare, a lot of commercial sauces, doesn't feel like much is done in-house. And yet, everyone's else food looks good. Good atmossphere, will try later day service. Feels like they've got their seasonal promotions in gear, which cannot disguise, perfectly adequate food.

I always go here after I arrive from Europe, and have a light meal to carry me through until the morning. The service is excellent - many of the staff have been there for several years and do a good job. This time I had the soup of the day and some French bread and a small beer. Perfect. Whatever you might like as a traveller, you will find it here.
