Description

Café Rio, known for its Americanized Mexican cuisine, often delights patrons with its sweet pork and quick service. While many rave about the efficient staff and their delicious offerings, some diners have encountered inconsistency in food quality and portion sizes. Issues such as undercooked beans and chicken, and neglectful hygiene practices at certain locations, left customers feeling unsettled. Despite these challenges, the restaurant’s vibrant atmosphere and loyalty program continue to attract crowds. Overall, while many enjoy their meals, the experience can vary significantly, suggesting potential for improvement in maintaining consistent quality across all locations.

Went in this evening at 9:25 and all of the food was gone except for a spicy beef. Why do you have hours until 10:00 if you are not willing to keep serving the majority of your menu until closing time? Most everything was cleaned up. Not professional or up to standard with other Cafe Rio restaurants!

I've always been a fan of Cafe Rio! Most of the time, the food is of great quality, and I always leave feeling satisfied. However, there are occasional inconsistencies with the food quality. During my most recent visit, everything was fantastic—except for the rice. Unfortunately, it was undercooked, which detracted from the overall quality of my burrito. I truly love this place, but I've noticed it's becoming less consistent with each visit.

When he added cheese to my burrito, it was a ridiculously small amount. I asked for mild sauce and, after the first scoop, I told him just a little bit (I tend to prefer less than most people), but he added another scoop anyway. As for the food quality, the rice was undercooked and hard, and the beans, which he claimed were cooked today, were also undercooked. Most importantly, the steak was undercooked too. Considering the small pieces, you'd expect them to get it right. After two bites, I can’t even imagine finishing it, even though I’m quite hungry. I’d give zero stars if I could. Honestly, if you can drive, go the extra mile to Costa Vida. The food is almost the same, and unless they are just as incompetent, it will taste better. I just tried to take another bite because I’m really hungry, but I can’t stomach it; it feels like I’m eating raw meat.

Normally this place is super good but for some reason today, I picked up my online order and I had a different experience. My tortilla shell is literally a chip, it’s stale and hard, and I specifically asked for things to be removed (due to allergies) and they added them. Little disappointed.

I feel like all chain restaurants let me down eventually. Once that happens, the only thing that brings me back is if someone I want to eat with insists on eating at one of their locations. That's what happened here. I loved Cafe Rio when i first discovered it on a trip to UT about a decade ago. They eventually arrived in my former home state of WA and, as many good restaurants do when they come to WA, their quality and service took a pretty pronounced plunge downward. I rarely have eaten there
