Now, let's get into the details. We celebrated our 22nd anniversary and made a reservation for Thursday by calling on Sunday. Wanting to avoid the disappointment of arriving without a reservation, we were relieved to receive a call back on Tuesday confirming our booking and asking for the spelling of my wife's name. Upon our arrival at exactly 6:00 for our reservation, we were seated promptly. They even took my wife’s coat so it wouldn’t have to hang on the back of her chair. Walking in, I was struck by how my expectations of the space had been off. The exterior has a minimalist industrial feel, but inside, we were greeted with warm exposed brick and thoughtful design choices that foster a welcoming atmosphere. Large windows allowed just the right amount of light in as the sun set behind us. I did have to make a few trips to the restroom due to seasonal allergies, and I must say, it was an impressive restroom. The frosted glass walls provided a sense of openness while ensuring complete privacy for patrons. From my limited exploration, it appeared that the entire environment was meticulously designed—nothing seemed arbitrary or chosen for convenience; every detail contributed to enhancing the customer experience from the moment we walked in. When we received the evening menu, my wife pleasantly noted that our names were printed at the top, a lovely personal touch that made our celebration feel even more special. The menu offered an array of delicious options, so much so that we inadvertently over-ordered! I quickly realized we wouldn't have room for a main course if we indulged in three appetizer courses, which also meant we might have to skip dessert. Who wants to skip dessert on their anniversary? Not me! I opted to cancel the main dish, hoping it would still be available next time. We kicked off our meal with the Shrimp Chile Relleno and the Hamachi Ceviche, both of which were fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by the spiciness and flavor of the Shrimp Chile Relleno, enhanced by the little touches of tobiko and fresh cilantro. The Hamachi Ceviche provided a nice counterbalance with its mildness. We enjoyed a glass of Pinot Noir from Familie Friedrich Becker, recommended by our server Austin. It was light and dry yet had enough body to complement many of our dishes. Next came the Mozzarella Di Buffala and Steak Tartare. The earthiness of the white asparagus and mint pesto was incredibly satisfying, and the steak tartare was perfectly executed, really bringing the wine to life. Our subsequent course featured rich Seared Foie Gras and Lump Crab Skillet Cake—more of a dip, really. Both dishes were indulgently rich and utterly satisfying; I’ll be hard-pressed to skip any of these options when I return. We concluded with their Black Bottom Butterscotch pudding and a mini banana cream tart, sharing a single Armagnac that paired beautifully with the banana tart. I can confidently say the Black Bottom Butterscotch pudding was one of the best desserts I've ever had, perfectly balancing sweetness and flavor depth. Nothing impresses me more than a dessert that is both complex and delightful. Overall, the service was exceptional, making our anniversary dinner at Lulou's a memorable experience.

My first time to Lu Lou's. There were three of us and we sat at the bar. The restaurant was packed. We ordered a chili relleno to start. It was wonderful and not what i expected. The pastilla chili was filled with tempura fried shrimp, no cheese. But I worked and was very tasty. We shared three entries: salmon , antelope and braised short ribs. All were excellent and large portions. I can't choose a favorite because they were all so amazing. Now the bad part of this review. Service was horrible. Our entrees took an hour. And, the bartender (our server) acted like she couldn't care less. But, we still enjoyed a great dinner. William
