Contribute Feedback What Cora T likes about Airfield Tavern:
After spending the night in Horley before our flight from Gatwick airport, we were recommended this restaurant by our hotel. Despite having to walk about a mile in the rain, we were relieved to find a warm place to relax. The restaurant was bustling with Halloween festivities, so we decided to grab a couple of drinks. Although we were initially told food would be available, we were disappointed to discover it was not... View all feedback.
What EbbwValeTessie doesn't like about Airfield Tavern:
called here on Friday night was packed got to bar seen 2 out 3 ales were off so left went back on Saturday as they had entertainment on had pint of hobgoblin as only ale on wasn't great only had the one and left View all feedback.
One drawback is that the draft beer doesn't taste as good as it does at other places. It may be due to dirty lines or another issue, so I prefer to stick to bottled drinks. Unfortunately, on Friday and Saturday nights, the atmosphere can get rowdy with fights breaking out. While there are door staff present, they only seem visible at the beginning and end of their shift and are slow to intervene in any altercations.
Although it is a small pub, it has a big heart. There is a nice sized beer garden out back for enjoying warm summer nights. Unfortunately, they only serve alcohol, crisps, and nuts, but hopefully that will change in the future. Many vacationers flying out from Gatwick Airport, including Canadians, Americans, and Scandinavians, have enjoyed their time at The Tavern.
During our visit to Horley, we decided to check out the first pub we stumbled upon: The Tavern. However, our experience there was quite bizarre. Upon entering, we were met with strange stares and a dark, eerie atmosphere. Despite the good music being played by the band, we were unexpectedly asked to leave by a security guard due to our "inappropriate footwear," which consisted of expensive and quality flip flops. Feeling shocked by this ridiculous rule, we opted to leave and instead headed to Wetherspoon, where we found a more lively and welcoming atmosphere filled with happy patrons. In the end, we were happy to spend around £100 at Wetherspoon, rather than dealing with the oddities of The Tavern.
Sorry but let down by this pub, beer over priced imo I've heard its trying to be a London pub not sure I would agree I drink in a lot of London pubs only thing London about it is the price. Better and cheaper alternatives...
Popped in to warm up and relax whilst waiting to check in for a holiday. The fantastic barman makes me want to return
