Reviews - L'Ortolan
Reviews summary
L'Ortolan continues to impress with its exceptional food and attentive service, making it a standout choice for special occasions. The eight-course tasting menu captivates diners with beautifully crafted dishes, complemented by a thoughtfully curated wine selection. However, some guests have noted a decline in ambiance and service quality, highlighting a rushed dining experience and outdated decor. While the restaurant maintains a solid reputation, the steep prices may not align with everyone's expectations, especially given recent increases in wine costs. For those seeking memorable culinary experiences, L'Ortolan remains a key destination, albeit with a few caveats.

From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave, the service is excellent, and the food and drinks are outstanding. I can't fault a single aspect of the experience. View all feedback.
What Brandon Jones dislikes about L'Ortolan:
I have dined here many times over the years but have to say it seems to have lost sone of its shine. The food was very good but it all felt like a Michelin conveyor belt. The restaurant feels like it needs uplifting, the service was not personal, (even the welcome felt rushed) and post dinner felt like they just wanted us out. Great food but I will be giving this a miss for a while -with drinks it worked out about £1... View all feedback.

Ate here with three mates at the start of the week and we went for the amazing value lunch menu, three courses cost £32 with canapés, bread, amuse bouche
I've been here several times over the years for special occasions; in a group for a friend's 30th, my 21st birthday and my grandmother's 80th among others.
We came here midweek and had the champagne lunch - 3 courses, appetizer and pre-dessert and a glass of champagne for £35 each.

L’Ortolan is one of the best restaurants we know. This birthday dinner was great. Everyone made a foot of the birthday girl. The eight-course menu was spectacular and every dish was exciting and beautiful to eat. If you want a birthday contract to look back for the whole year, this is the place to go.

The food at this restaurant was top-notch and every staff member was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only downside is that the place could use a fresh coat of paint.
Most of the staff at the restaurant were fantastic, especially the head waitress and waiting staff. However, the Sommelier was unfriendly. Since I don't drink alcohol, I was only offered a non-alcoholic beer or gin. When I requested a non-alcoholic cocktail, he refused with a heavy sigh and walked away. Throughout the meal, he mostly interacted with my wife, who was drinking wine, and ignored me. It is important for a restaurant that has previously been awarded a Michelin star to have more options and a better attitude towards customers who do not drink. The food was delicious and met the expectations of a high-end restaurant. However, the fixed 6/8 course tasting menu felt outdated and I would have preferred an à la carte option. Despite the rude Sommelier, we had a pleasant evening overall, but perhaps L'Ortolan should reconsider its approach and focus on innovation.
Many thanks to L'Ortolan for a truly wonderful meal and special thanks to Mia to organising the new date for our anniversary celebration. K rgds, Jon
Exceptional food with great service. Had the 8 course tasting menu with the wine flight. Amazing
