L'Ortolan continues to impress with its exceptional food and attentive service, making it a standout choice for special occasions. The eight-course tasting menu captivates diners with beautifully crafted dishes, complemented by a thoughtfully curated wine selection. However, some guests have noted a decline in ambiance and service quality, highlighting a rushed dining experience and outdated decor. While the restaurant maintains a solid reputation, the steep prices may not align with everyone's expectations, especially given recent increases in wine costs. For those seeking memorable culinary experiences, L'Ortolan remains a key destination, albeit with a few caveats.

Fab service I loved the interesting suggestions from the sommelier delightful meal every course was delicious. Really wonderful experience from start to finish I would definitely soften the lighting in the dining room though quite stark when you first walk in. View all feedback.
What marilyn1 dislikes about L'Ortolan:
We had a wonderful evening at the restaurant. The food was excellent, but we were a bit disappointed that we had to pay an extra £5 each to swap the guinea fowl (as we don't eat meat) for the roasted squash that was offered as an alternative to the monkfish. It seemed unnecessary and strange. View all feedback.
Ate here with three mates at the start of the week and we went for the amazing value lunch menu, three courses cost £32 with canapés, bread, amuse bouche
We came here midweek and had the champagne lunch - 3 courses, appetizer and pre-dessert and a glass of champagne for £35 each.
I've been here several times over the years for special occasions; in a group for a friend's 30th, my 21st birthday and my grandmother's 80th among others.
The food at this restaurant was top-notch and every staff member was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only downside is that the place could use a fresh coat of paint.
Most of the staff at the restaurant were fantastic, especially the head waitress and waiting staff. However, the Sommelier was unfriendly. Since I don't drink alcohol, I was only offered a non-alcoholic beer or gin. When I requested a non-alcoholic cocktail, he refused with a heavy sigh and walked away. Throughout the meal, he mostly interacted with my wife, who was drinking wine, and ignored me. It is important for a restaurant that has previously been awarded a Michelin star to have more options and a better attitude towards customers who do not drink. The food was delicious and met the expectations of a high-end restaurant. However, the fixed 6/8 course tasting menu felt outdated and I would have preferred an à la carte option. Despite the rude Sommelier, we had a pleasant evening overall, but perhaps L'Ortolan should reconsider its approach and focus on innovation.
