While the lunch options may seem limited, the ambiance of RISC and the eclectic beer selection make it a cool spot to visit. The food is generally well-received, with standout items like the mushroom burger and the vegan spicy bean wrap. The Thursday Thali is a hit for those looking for a flavorful vegetarian meal. The menu is small but all items are vegan or vegetarian and can be made vegan upon request. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere laid back, making it a great place for a meal with family or friends. Overall, the Global Cafe is a hidden gem in Reading with delicious food and drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes it worth a visit.
The mushroom burger is crazy good, I expected a squishy sub par portobello and got crispy tempura mushrooms. the drinks are extensive and great, come for years as bar. really a hidden gem in a boring city!
Although they have a very small menu, eating is really good. the staff is super friendly and helpful and eating is relatiw lazy they have made in the regular a cabinet full of vegan tas before place that are very tasty
We stopped here for lunch, the staff is super friendly and the food was really nice. there were some vegan options to choose from and many of them was gluten-free, which was a bonus. it is also very favorable. (they even had gluten-free vegan cake updated by previous review on 2019-06-29
We were here and were looking forward to eating tasty injera and curries just to find that the Ethiopian place that was here earlier disappeared. that is above all a bar. As other reviews have found, the menu is small, although completely vegan and vegetarian (all items can be made vegan). Unfortunately, my assessment cannot comment on the eating itself, as they lost our order. (We went too foot to miami burger.
Fairly limited lunch menu, and not the most imaginative of choices: I had the felafel burger (which turned out to be falafel in a bun, with chips); my partner had the halloumi burger (halloumi in a bun, with chips). But RISC (Reading International Solidarity Centre) is such a cool place, and what a brilliant selection of beers. I couldn't make my mind up between their numerous pale ales, so opted for an Erdinger dunkel weissbier. And the shop next door is great, too.
