I ordered a surprise bouquet for a friend, I'd contacted the store via email prior to my purchase and they were very kind and helpful. My friend has had an awful few years(well documented TRUE story in a book that's been published, see Jayne Sterne book titled DESTROYED). Anyway, I explained to the store that my friend had never received a bouquet of flowers ever in her life and that the bouquet needed to be special, they didn't disappoint. Jayne was completely overwhelmed, gobsmacked to be precise. The flowers were delivered in January and Jayne still talks about them to this day. So thanx again you guy's 7 flower Tea, you made a very special girl very happy.
Am not even sure how to begin this review but to say that 7 flowers is THE cafe I have been going to for almost 4 years now. Every member of staff in the shop have become like a member of family to me. Not only are they attentive and prompt, they have great recommendations for any and all friends I bring to the shop. The staff are truly the sweetest group of people I know in the industry and strive to make your experience there both comfortable and enjoyable from the perfect presentation of tea to personalised bouquets and are always happy to listen and assist with any further requests. I have not had the honour of speaking with QiQi the owner very often but Sara, Jordan and Lauren are a big part of what makes the cafe one of my favourite spots in town. In terms and food and drink, 7 flowers has an extremely wide selection which continuously cycles depending on stock and season so there is no chance for you to get bored. As someone who is dairy free they provide both vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options which are some of the best cakes I’ve had that have been plant based. You often lose out on richness and the sugar content is way too high but that is not the case with the cake and dessert here. For those of you that aren’t tea lovers there are coffees and hot chocolate and there are good few people I have brought to the shop that have fallen in love with tea which they said they didn’t like before. Pricing wise, you definitely get your money’s worth definitely for the huge pots of loose leaf tea which can very easily be shared between several people if you are on a budget and they have loyalty cards which can be stamped and you can earn free drinks. (Correct me if I’m wrong here) but if you are in a rush you can also take some drinks away. 7 flowers also offers bouquets (both fresh and dried flowers) which can be custom made for a charge which I have always found reasonable for the amount of work and time and artistry that is put into them. The flowers available are also seasonal and change rapidly but I find this another charming aspect of the cafe. If there is a particular set of fresh flowers you would like as a dried bouquet, they can also dry them in store for you. I have also bought several potted plants from here that have been exceptionally cared for and make for perfect gifts. And if you fall in love with the teacups they can be bought online in their website shop as well as other homewear items, chocolates, candles etc. In terms of facilities, they have both indoor and outdoor seating and a toilet which isn’t disability accessible (it is down some stairs) and doesn’t include baby changing facilities. However, the toilet is always kept impeccably clean. Finally, the atmosphere. It is not a surprise that there is a 90 minute limit (during busy hours) to seat in the cafe. With thousands of plants, a fake plant wall, calming music, the beautiful smell of flowers it both feels and is a breathe of fresh air when you have been walking around Reading. It is not uncommon to see people studying in here or completing work before a meeting. Everyone I have introduced to 7 flowers mentions the atmosphere first upon leaving and the calming effect it has had on them. Before going, to make it easier for everyone I would recommend calling ahead and asking if a table is free so it can be reserved for you and if there are any particular cakes or teas you are interested in then to ask then. The team are always very friendly and will often go the extra mile to make sure their clients get the best out of their time there.
I cannot recommend this place enough. I lived in Reading for years but moved away in 2022 and whenever I'm back in the area this is the place I go. I've seen a few different staff when I've been in there and never met one who wasn't super friendly and attentive (Jordan and Sara are especially lovely). It gets busy during peak times but that's definitely for a reason; 7 Flowers has a lovely atmosphere, great drinks, food and service AND is incredibly Instagram-able.
Amazing tea and beautiful flowers! This place is a gorgeous little shop tucked away and the staff are always super friendly and accommodating!
The range of loose leaf teas is consistently tasty, and I've noticed that there seems to be something different on the menu each time I visit. The staff (Sarah and Jordan I think) are polite every time I pop in. Love the atmosphere, though I enjoy my visits most on weekdays as it's quieter. I look forward to coming again.
