Matt's Steaks
Description
Matt's Steaks is a small, unpretentious sandwich shop known for friendly, efficient staff, wallet-friendly prices and reliably crisp fries that travel well. Patrons praise quick takeout, specials and a cozy counter-service vibe, but opinions split on kitchen quality: some enjoy fresh-tasting cheesesteaks while others report processed or reheated patties, greasy or overly salty sandwiches and dim, yellowish lighting that can feel less family-friendly. Expect fast service and solid value, but keep modest expectations about ingredient freshness and ambiance.

I ordered two cheesesteaks with peppers, onions, and mushrooms and asked the girl if they were made fresh. She assured me they were, but then she opened the bin and placed the steak directly on top of cold mushrooms, cheese, and peppers. The meat seemed greasy and old, likely just reheated from this morning instead of being freshly cooked. I also ordered pierogies and mozzarella sticks, which were fried in old oil. I ended up wasting $36 on a meal that will probably make me sick later.
This was my first visit, and I ordered a cheesesteak, which was decent. The service, however, was good.
Here's the truth: This small-town burger joint heats up frozen patties, pre-made perogies, and store-bought fries. I recently slammed two burgers that were downright terrible. Last week, I had a flavorless steak sandwich. When I saw them take the perogies out of a Ms. T bag, I really started to question why I was even there. What's the point of being a mom-and-pop burger place if you're just selling entirely processed foods? I won't be coming back again.
They DEFINITELY PRE MAKE THE CHEESESTEAK SPECIAL as if you do not want onions they charge you MORE TO MAKE IT FRESH! Ewwww! Additionally completely rude “yeah what do you want?” Ummm? No ty!For a small business they are certainly not reading the right playbook. Go with V&S OR May’s.
