Reviews - Saap
Reviews summary
Saap, a highly talked-about Thai restaurant, has garnered both praise and disappointment from diners. While many relish the vibrant flavors and beautifully presented dishes—like the mango salad and Massaman curry—others lament slow service and unwelcoming staff. Despite its accolades, including a prestigious James Beard award, some guests experienced mix-ups with reservations and felt overlooked. Ultimately, while the food shows promise, the inconsistent service detracts from the overall experience, leaving a divide among patrons regarding whether Saap truly lives up to the hype or falls short of expectations.
Was Laura Hedges at Saap a mag?
Unfortunately, not worth the hype. Food was good, but nothing spectacular. Service was not good. Only one person sitting, waiting and serving a full dining room. He did the best he could, but was obviously stressed out and unhappy. Why is a restaurant with so much accolades understaffed? Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner View all feedback.

After reading several positive reviews, we eagerly made a reservation at this restaurant two weeks in advance. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing and the service incredibly slow. The one redeeming factor was the friendly server. The timing of our small plates and entrees being brought to the table all at once was not ideal. As newcomers from the San Francisco Bay Area, we would rank this Thai restaurant as one of the worst we have tried.
If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. While passing through Randolph, I decided to give this place a try based on its reputation. I arrived right when they opened, but they seated a family before me. I asked if I could order 2-3 dishes to go, but they refused even though I was willing to wait and didn't expect it to be ready immediately. The atmosphere was unpleasant and the customer service was terrible.
I had heard many great things about Saap and was excited to finally visit. I made an online reservation 2 weeks in advance for a Friday night dinner with my fiance. We arrived at 7pm, but the waiter couldn't find our reservation. After checking my Google Calendar and email, I realized there was a mix-up with the reservation time. Despite feeling unwelcome, we ordered and waited a while for our food. The dishes looked great but the flavors were disappointing - the soup was too sour, the noodles were bland, and the curry wasn't spicy as requested. While I understand that mistakes happen, the server's attitude was unwelcoming and made us feel like a burden. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to Saap.

Lived up to the hype. My wife and I drove down from the Burlington area to see what the fuss is all about and boy was it a superb meal. The mango salad was truly delicious, but be warned: even the level 1 spice is spicy (thanks for the tip, Jesse)! Both of us had pretty 'normal ' Thai meals (my wife: curry, me: stir fry veggies w/ chicken and a fried egg), but the quality was a notch above what you 'd get at your local Thai spot. The veggies registered as very fresh and generally the meal felt as if it was made with love by someone really taking their time.

They definitely are well deserving of their culinary nomination. The food was great.
James Beard award winner 2022 for best chef. Make reservation since they're under staff and they're limiting walk-in. Your food will take a little longer to come out since only few people working in the kitchen, and they got more foots traffic since they got this prestigious award.
We have seen lots of good reviews for SAAP, so decided to try it while in Randolph. We felt the dinner lived up to the great recommendations. We enjoy Thai food, and both plates were excellent. They were definitely on the spicy side, so order low spicy if you don't want it authentically hot! The servers were very friendly and helpful. We would recommend this restaurant!
We LOVE Saap! The food is absolutely incredible. It takes a while to be made because it's made from scratch and we are happy to wait for it. The service is wonderful. Absolutely the best thai food I've had.
