It has been tried to add an extra £1:50 for roast lamb that was not on the menu flower cauliflower cheese was wanted without a hauch of cheese more like hollandaise sauce bratkartoffeln boiled, this place used to serve a very good roast, but no longer.
Had a Sunday roast here, was very disappointing because of the small portions and the prices
The oak is our way to take place, had always recommended our high-time recipe. sad, not so good this time. they didn't have the one I usually ordered. since I spoke to the barman on Wednesday when I ordered the last bottle. the waitress then forgot to bring the wein on our table and when I went back to the bar, she said I'm sorry, we're a bit busy, they were really not, certainly not for a Friday night. they had run out of the special (belly of pork), but the waitress did not know until they passed the job. the Ceasar salad with sirloin was good again, but not as good as the steak I had in the week. otherwise we had a nice evening.
We were looking around for a restaurant with fish on their menu, not fried! We looked at the restaurant menu online and it appeared very suitable, so booked a table. We ate dinner on a Friday night and were quite surprised that we were the only diners in there. We were given the menu and our drinks order was taken. There is a second specials menu, which was a very reasonably priced vegetarian menu. We ordered the tuna £14), monkfish with prawns and parma ham £17.50) and rack of lamb £17.50). We were impressed with the presentation and also the fact that we received plenty of fresh vegetables, often small servings in other establishments. All were cooked to perfection. Each one of us said what very good, tasty food it was, the best we have had for a long while. We could not resist the desserts, priced at £4. We had the lemon and lime cheesecake and summer fruit creme brullee. My husband chose the cheese board at £6.50. He commented that it was the best one he had in 6 years! I have to say the quality, price and service we really could not understand why the restaurant wasn 't full! It also has a nice view, overlooking Ramsgate harbour. Go along , you won 't be disappointed!!
Given the reviews we were expecting a pleasant meal but it would we were either in a different restaurant or the chef had a hangover. Our starters of lobster thermidor (the lobster inners had not been removed, very unappetising) were bland and the beef kofta was mediocre. The main courses of gammon roast had the dryest meat we had ever been given , it appeared to have been left over from lunch service. It seemed to be a common theme as the minted lamb burger was also dry. The vegatables were good but less so the potatoes. We didn't bother with dessert. Beer on tap was good but poor selection of wine. Even though we complained about the food nothing was done. There is really no excuse for poor quality food. The lovely young staff deserve to be supported by better output from kitchen. We won't go back
