The Oily Tree Meze Souvlaki Grill

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night several weeks ago. I had to correct my initial review as I had made a mistake in quoting the price of the retsina. Regardless, we arrived early and placed our order before a few large groups. The food arrived promptly and kept coming, perhaps a bit too quickly. Next time, we will request a break between our starters and main course. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Although they allow BYO wine, we opted to purchase a small bottle of organic retsina for $20, which was enough for three of us. It was the best retsina I have ever tasted. My wife had a glass of cabernet sauvignon for $9. The restaurant is cozy and has a charming Greek atmosphere, complete with soothing Greek music playing in the background. We will definitely be returning.

The banquet at this restaurant was pricey and started with a small portion of nice calamari, which was not enough for our large group. There were rubbery squid and tough, fatty meat served without any indication of what type of meat it was. The waiter did not offer any guidance and did not check on our table throughout the meal. The bread was served hard and we were given small, kid-sized glasses instead of proper wine glasses. Overall, we were unimpressed and do not plan on returning. There are much better meals available at half the price elsewhere.

I went with my best friend to celebrate our birthdays at this restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious, the service was excellent, and we even had a nice conversation with the chef who uses high-quality ingredients. I can't wait to go back with a group and our partners to try the Saturday spit roast. And don't forget to try the loukoumades (Greek donuts) and mastic ice cream - they are a must!

This was an exceptional experience, the owners were extremely friendly and obliging. The food was so fresh and tasty....loved it !

We revisited The Oily Tree last week and again we were delighted with the food and service. Everyone in our party (8) was very happy with their meal which was a set menu. We used a voucher so it turned out to be a very inexpensive night for us but the quality of the food was excellent.
