I you are craving for some Vietnamese food you must visit this place. It is a wonderful hole in the wall. But wow, what great food, great service. One can tell that The proprietor truly cares about the food quality. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Gaveston:
I have the camera I have. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the location is excellent. However, I recommend preordering and taking your food to go. Our party of four had to wait about an hour for everyone to receive their orders, which was quite long. View all feedback.
The service was extremely slow, the food was mediocre, and the dining area had a low-quality atmosphere. After eating the banh mi, we all ended up with stomachaches. This restaurant shouldn't be regarded as a go-to for Asian cuisine; there are far better options in Quincy! Additionally, the slow service and unsanitary conditions make it hard for me to recommend this place.
The owner and chef, Galveston, came out to greet us, which was a nice touch. Although there was a bit of a wait, the freshness and quality of the food made it well worth it. We learned that they offer delivery, so this will definitely become one of our go-to spots. I can’t wait to try the pho next time!
I ordered several dishes, and while some were good, others missed the mark. Firstly, the Beef Pho was not true Beef Pho; I’m almost certain it didn’t use beef broth. The broth was flavorless and contained an overwhelming amount of whole black peppercorns... Wait, black peppercorns in Pho? Really? There was no cilantro or any real flavor in the broth, just spice. My wife had the beef and onion noodle salad, which she described as decent. The highlight of the meal was the BBQ honey pork rice; it was a bit dry, but the flavors were spot on. They used jasmine rice instead of broken rice. However, the pickled daikon and carrots didn’t taste quite right either. I haven't had a chance to try the Bahn Mi yet. I did get double charged for the Bahn Mi, but thankfully I spotted the mistake when I asked for the receipt. They corrected it, but I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t looked at the bill. Overall, with so many Vietnamese options in Quincy, I don’t think I’ll be returning. It just didn’t taste like Vietnamese food to me.
Banh mi and noodle salad were both remarkably below average and we waited more than 30 minutes for them If you're standing right in front and nothing else will satisfy your craving besides a banh mi, then sure, go for it. Otherwise, don't bother to drive out there, for those items at least.
The food is good but the service is incredibly slow. Be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes for anything you order.
