I recently had the pleasure of revisiting Taco Veloz, a wonderful Mexican restaurant located just a few subway stations away from the Mets stadium. I had dined there years ago, and I’m happy to say it was just as good as I remembered! They offer a wide variety of toppings and an extensive menu featuring tacos, tortas (sandwiches), and burritos. The service is quick and friendly, making it a perfect spot for a late-ni... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Taco Veloz:
I have witnessed that these young pricier and pricier get, but that still doesn't keep me from coming. at this point I tried everything on their menu, but I am honestly always back for the tostadas and the tacos. They are probably the best to see in the opposite. simply try to avoid coming here when the roosevelt ave bar scene lives and poppin’s cus otherwise it is not really taco veloz View all feedback.
So I wandered upon this place after leaving a lounge at about 3am. The setup is very simple, basically a kitchen with a counter to either get your food to go or eat there while standing. Very basic menu in terms of items, I and everyone else there at the time got tacos, which is definitely the main draw. They have a pretty nice variety of tacos though, from goat to cow tongue to pork, and my favorite, bistec (steak). 4 dollars per taco, which arrived quick, under five minutes. And they were amazing. Fresh, juicy beef that is cooked while you wait. The toppings are also great. I'm not Mexican so I was flying blind, but they had what looked like salsa Verde, other types of hot sauce, and containers with yellow bell peppers, jalapeno (I think) and other things that you add yourself, free of charge. The peppers are *hot* so be warned. The beverages were pretty basic, had standard canned soda, Mexican soda in glass bottles and one dollar water, which is impossible to find in the city anymore. In short, definitely recommend this place. It's open until 4am so if you're ever in the area it's pretty much sure to be open, and you should try it.
The service and food are good, normal prices if you like to eat on the street you can eat there but I think they don't have seats.
Actually better than I thought it would be! The tostadas de pastor and bistec were actually juicy and delicious. It reminds me of homemade Mexican food growing up.
Carne asasda tacos are a staple, it might be the 7 train Roosevelt track juice that drops down on them that gives it it's je ne sais quoi
