What Ollynette likes about Deep Seafood Cafe and Oyster Bar:
I am a regular at the fish markets and I only eat at this café. Sure, they serve it on a plastic plate but eating at the fish markets in general isn't fine dining. The mrs usually orders half a dozen oysters then shares my fish and chips. For around 30 bucks we can get 6 oysters, two pieces of grilled John Dory, calamari, chips, side salad and 2 cans of soft drink. They also serve beer and wine if that's your prefere... This is the very first cafe you see at the fish market. It's outside the main building just off the road and, when we arrived, looked empty. We just wanted a quick lunch so decided to give it a go. I can only think it's empty because most people decide to go further in and see whast else is available. We both had the char grilled octopus and it was excellent. Reasonably priced too. I left Sydney Fish Market disappointed that I was unable to try anything because it was too crowded.
Last working day of the year so the team decided to bunk off early (and by early I mean lunchtime) and head to the fish markets for a seafood lunch to round

read moreDeep Cafe is the first cafe you encounter at the fish market, situated just outside the main building. Despite appearing empty upon arrival, this hidden gem offers delicious char-grilled octopus at a reasonable price and provides quick service. However, some patrons have noted issues with flies landing on oysters in the refrigerated counters. Despite this, regular customers appreciate the value for money at Deep Cafe, with options like fresh oysters, grilled John Dory, calamari, and fish and chips, all cooked to order. Overall, Deep Cafe is a worthwhile option for those seeking a satisfying seafood meal at the fish market.
