Was Thomas Freeman at Cav a mag?
The food was outstanding! I really enjoyed the spicy flavor of the mussels and pasta dish. The squid was just as delicious, with a nice kick to it. The bread was fresh, and the butter was excellent. The decor was lovely, featuring many beautiful pieces. The staff was friendly and quick to serve us. There was a good ratio of servers to customers, which made ordering and receiving drinks easier, and a bus person was on... View all feedback.
What Maria Kamilli dislikes about Cav:
Very bad staff. My sister and I have had a very bad experience with the staff the last three times we have gone. They have a bad attitude. The last time we went, no one came to serve us, and there were still 45 minutes left before closing. Everyone looked at us and ignored us. Good food but bad staff. View all feedback.
Everything is consistently excellent—service, food, ambiance, you name it. This is my favorite restaurant in Providence!
We were curious whether CAV would uphold the high standards set by its late owner, but we had no reason to worry. Everything was just as delightful as ever. The appetizers included cheese croquettes that were good, though not exceptional. However, the dumplings (if that's what they were called) were a standout dish. My friend found the duck entree to be very impressive, and my swordfish special was flawless in both preparation and presentation. CAV also boasts gracious service, excellent live music, and charming, unique surroundings. My only minor concern was that the live music and background noise made conversation a bit challenging. Overall, CAV undoubtedly remains one of the top dining options in Providence.
The food at CAV consistently impresses. The scallops were fantastic, and my dining companion thoroughly enjoyed the swordfish. Although it was a bustling Wednesday night with a jazz trio performing, the service was outstanding. We were seated just two tables away from the band, and while their music was excellent, it was quite loud. We had to practically shout to hear each other. If you plan to visit on a Wednesday night, I recommend sitting on the side of the restaurant away from the band.
Dining here feels like experiencing an art museum. The service was outstanding, and the food was equally impressive. As for kid-friendliness, they were very accommodating to our 19-month-old, who was well-behaved throughout our visit.
