visit family near and wanted to treat them with a Sunday roast. Eat and service were great. only one improvement would be for more than just a bratkartoffel on the plate. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about The Old Yew Tree:

Family of for Sunday dinner, variety of dishes ordered incl. Veggie, and all superb. Beef so tender it fell apart on your fork and proper gravy (ie. Animal fat). Dessert top draw as well. Highly recommend.
Went for a drink. Asked if we could bring in the dogs. ‘How many?’ Two we said. Only if they are well behaved. Barmaid then made us feel like she was doing us a favour by letting us have a drink in her pub. Not...nice at all. Spoilt our day.
We revisited The Old Yew Tree again for a second time the last being over a year ago, we were not disappointed, it had the same friendly warm atmosphere that we enjoyed last time from both the staff and the locals. We were all made...to feel welcome including our dogs The food was perfect so we really couldn’t ask for anything more and look forward to revisiting again next year as it seems to be an annual event for us
The Old Yew Tree Inn offers a varied dining experience that has left patrons with contrasting opinions. While some rave about the friendly atmosphere and high-quality meals, particularly the succulent roasts and well-catered children's options, others have faced service issues and unwelcoming attitudes. Reports of mix-ups with orders and poor communication about closures have marred the experience for some guests. However, the warm hospitality and efficient service during family outings shine through, making it a beloved spot for gatherings. Overall, the establishment seems to balance its charm with significant room for improvement in consistency.

Have been going consistently whenever I'm in Cardiff with work. The food is simply amazing, the service friendly and prompt, atmosphere welcoming and all located within a beautiful environment. Can't recommend it anymore!
My fathers took me there last week and i would eat there every day if i could
Really lovely pub, great service and the food was great and a good price.
What a charming spot! We dropped in for a drink and enjoyed the views of the fields from the beer garden. There were plenty of red kites soaring overhead, which was a lovely sight to see. We'll definitely be back to try out the food someday.
Beautiful place. If sunny would be so lovely to sit outside. Lovely meal had by me and my family.

Great food and wonderful hospitality. The Fish Pie and Beef pie definitely worth recommending : And the chips...just as I like them : Thick yet crispy :
