I had a fantastic experience here yesterday. I had ordered a sandwich online and used tokens during my purchase. While submitting my order, I received an error and it looked as if my order had not been submitted as it was not in my history. However, I noticed my tokens had been deducted on the app, so I looked at my bank account and saw a pending charge. I went to the location and was greeted by a very nice employee. I explained my situation and they then apologized as my order had not come through on their end. Another employee came up from the back and told them to go ahead and make my sandwich and if my order came through later they would void the original for me. By now they were getting busy with other orders, but both employees were incredibly nice and pleasant the entire time I was there. This morning I looked in my bank account and not only did they do what they stated they would, they also refunded my in-store charge and charged me the lesser amount to account for the tokens that I used on my original mobile order.I don't live near Powers, but I would stop in again when I'm out that way just because of the experience I had with the employees doing extra to make sure I got what I needed. Kudos to them!
I always have amazing experiences at this location, but tonight was phenomenal. I've always had sensory issues, especially with food and I got distracted talking to one of the wonderful ladies behind the counter and forgot to ask for light mayo. After coming back to my car and realizing my mistake I came back in, and they were wonderful about it. Made me a new sandwich quickly and were very lighthearted and kind about the whole situation. This is my favorite location I've ever been, their employees are truly amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
My only comment about my visit was that there was a 2 to 3 inch pile of hard snow blocking the wheelchair ramp. It was very hard to get my client onto the sidewalk and the sidewalk was slick and icy. Wheelchair accessibility: If the weather is nice, there are no issues. Winter seems to be a problem.
While he was wrapping my last sandwich, he said to me— and I quote— “You might want to order the cookie BEFORE you get to the register next time.” I was taken aback by his rude and condescending tone, standing there stunned, trying to process what had just happened. The place wasn't busy; there was no one ahead of me when I arrived, and only one guy walked in while my subs were being prepared. As I reflected on his comment, I felt angry and asked him why I should have to do that. He rambled about something related to the oven, but I couldn't really follow what he was saying. When he returned with the cookie, I explained to him that you typically order cookies at the end with your payment. Again, in a condescending manner, he replied, “It just makes it really hard for the two of us back here, because I'm constantly in his way, and it’s just a mess.” But honestly, the way he made that first comment was really embarrassing. This is the second time I've experienced poor treatment there from someone with an attitude. I might only go back if I'm desperate, since it’s the only Subway around, but I think I’ll resort to ordering online and picking it up at the window. First of all, how are customers supposed to know this? Secondly, why do they have a large sticker promoting the cookie right next to the cash register if they don’t want customers to consider ordering one? I’m just tired of people talking down to others and then expecting a tip. They expect a 15% to 20% tip for making our sandwiches, and while I don’t mind tipping when the service is good and the staff are pleasant, I won’t be leaving a tip for someone who speaks to me like that. All the staff had to do was say, “We have a new system, so if you order your cookie at the start, it helps us manage things better and ensures it’s ready for you.” At least that way, it would feel like they were doing it for my convenience, as opposed to making me feel like I ruined their night. I simply can’t tolerate condescending rudeness, especially when I’m trying to be kind.
