This restaurant is a hidden gem in Porto. We had the suckling pig, the veal cheeks and the vegetarian crepes Al the meals were excellent and beautifully presented. You need to try the chocolate trio and the citrus mousse for dessert. View all feedback.
What Kole Roberts doesn't like about Alecrim:
Food (beef tips and hamburger) was mediocre after extensive wait in an empty restaurant. Fries had clearly been under a warmer for some time as they were horribly stale. View all feedback.
The weather was very warm, so we sat outside in a pleasant terrace area and enjoyed some cold beer. The service was just OK, the atmosphere pleasant because of the park right there.
We reserved a table here this evening, which I would recommend so as not to be disappointed. The welcome was friendly and warm. The decor and atmosphere is perfect. The menu, whilst quite limited, has something for everyone. I ordered the suckling pig with vegetables and potatoes and my husband the veal cheek with risotto, it was stunning. The service was attentive. I would certainly recommend and without a doubt would return.
I had a pleasant experience because on a warm day I had a little table outside on the sidewalk next to the big garden. It was pleasant and shady. I just had a beer. Quick and pleasant service.
So my mother and I went to this restaurant because the food looked good on the pictures and the reviews were good. When we entered everything was fine and the server was really kind and tried to help us with our order. The menu was both portugese and english so we knew what we orderd. Or we thought that we knew..... so to start of I ordered lemonade which was almost pure lemon juice. I tend to like sour but this was too much even for me. Then we ordered the food. We choose stuffed mushrooms and 2 pieces of bruchetta. One with brie and ham and the other with avocado and creamcheese. After our order we received what the waitress called a complementary breadbasket but we told her we didnt want that because what we ordered would be a lot already. So she took it away. Then the mushrooms came, they were not stuffed but just regular baked mushrooms. After that dissapointment we got the so called avocado toast which was more like a salade on top of toast with about 5 pieces of avocado. The avocado was cut in cubes of about an inch. The other toast also consisted more of salade then the discribed ingredients. Furthermore, these ingredients were not even listed on the menu and there were also fruits in the salade, which to me is fine but for someone with an allergy this might be a different story. So after the wreck I called dinner we did not want to see how much worse dessert could be so we asked for the bill. And ofcourse on this bill there was the complementary breadbasket of 4,10 euros which we didnt eat but were asked to pay anyways. After noticing we were not happy she took the breadbasket of the bill and we left.
This is a simple, but well refined restaurant. I've ate here weekly for the past year and never regretted. Food is well made, good wine, good couvert (even that is awesome) and staff is amazing. Amanda always were very cordial and have great suggestions. A must go if you're looking to avoid tourist traps.
