I went there a Saturday and we chose the menu of the day (entry, main dish, bread, water for 10€ , along with red wine from Douro (2,5€ . The entries were very tasty and nicely plated for a traditional Portuguese Salada de bacalhau com grão , as well as the carott and orange soup. What Rui M doesn't like about Achas na Fogueira:
The food is entirely cooked in the fire and the taste is very good. However the dinner was spoiled because there too many people seated in the table thas was appointed for us, which make the entire meal very unconfortable View all feedback.

For main course, I had a very good tagliatelli with fresh tomatoes and basilicum and my friend a fish salad with mushrooms and vegetables, all with a touch of gourmet cuisine. It 's a place downtown where you can find a good service, pleasant ambiance and a fine cuisine for a reasonable price.
We were 2 and went there for dinner. We ordered 2 main dishes: vegetarian lasagna (11,00 eur) and lamb rack (14,90 eur). The lasagna, a very small portion, came with no lasagna, just egglant, tomato sauce and cheese, so I called the waiter, thinking that they might have misunderstood my order, but I was told that their lasagna was like that, without lasagna.... So, I rejected it. Anyway, a very smal bowl containing 5 slices of eggplant, tomato sauce and melted cheese can only be considered a rip off. The lamb rack was also a very small portion and the meat came already cold and a bit undercooked, but still acceptable. As expected, they didn 't charge for the 'lasagna '. Also, they didn 't charge for the bread and butter they have served while we waited for the food, which was a positive aspect. All in all, it was a disappointing experience, especially because there are several other restaurants in the neighborhood with a much nicer atmosphere and a much better value for money
I've been to many restaurants in Porto, but this was the best yet. Fabulously attentive staff and good recommendations for food. Do have the carne (beef curtain) and beef tartare with a Douro red, you won't be disappointed. The vegetables and mashed potato were also very very good.
There were 5 of us and we all really loved the food and the wine. Wonderful value as the standards were very high and everything delicious. Would definitely recommend for good food, friendly service and a more peaceful atmosphere than elsewhere.
For ~35 euros/person, we got a nice bottle of wine, two starters to share, and two main dishes that each came with a side that we also shared, and dessert. Best mashed potatoes I 've ever had. The wait staff was very nice and gave us suggestions about what to do later that night in the area. The going out area is just a block or two away, so this is a great spot to start the night with a nice dinner without being surrounded by mayhem. Great date spot for couples too.
