This restaurant is fantastic. The seafood is top-notch. I enjoyed the halibut and scallops. The staff is very friendly and efficient, even during busy times. Definitely worth making a stop off the highway between St. Anthony and Rocky Harbour. View all feedback.
What Eleazar Pfannerstill doesn't like about Anchor Cafe:
We stopped here for lunch on the way up the Viking Trail. Food was passable but nothing special. Service was okay but not great. Not too many restaurants around to choose from though. Salad dressing was brought to the table in the bottle (Kraft,) would've been a little better if served in a small container. View all feedback.
During our drive from St. Anthony to Corner Brook, two families consisting of four adults and four kids stopped at this restaurant for lunch. It was a fantastic choice, offering a great variety of options to cater to everyone's tastes. The service was outstanding, the food was high quality and perfect for families, and the decor was unique, featuring authentic marine elements, stunning Newfoundland art for sale, and some nostalgic kitsch. To top it off, the food was served promptly and we were able to be on our way within an hour.
Fresh seafood in a variety of presentations but all ensuring the seafood shone. Friendly service and a relaxing environment. Loved the Figgy Duff!
3 couples on an ATV ride stopped in for lunch. The place was busy by we were quickly seated. Our server was fantastic “the redhead” as another staff member called her). So polite and pleasant to interact with. Food was great as well. Everything from cod to shrimp/scallops combo to Shipwreck. Even though the place was busy, the food came out quickly and the portions were huge. Ran into the new owner later that day at the service station in Hawkes Bay and passed on our group’s compliments. Would definitely return.
Had a great mid day meal here. The food was fresh, VERY generous, and tasty. The vegetable options here are a welcome break from fried foods. I enjoyed a lobster roll with fries and a perfect coleslaw. My teen had the most memorable meal of his trip Shipwrecked a poutine style dish with fries, onion rings, ground beef, chicken, gravy, and cheese. Food was very affordable and worth every penny and the history is interesting. Highly recommended.
The service was quick and extremely friendly! The food was incredibly tasty! This hidden gem is definitely worth the 13km detour from Route 430.
