Hong Kong Cafe - Ponoka

This restaurant isn't bad as long as you eat in. We ate in the restaurant to try the new owners food and it was good....so my hubby ordered a large order for work and it didn't taste like what we had in the restaurant. Was very disappointed as we like to order Chinese to go. Won't be ordering it unless we eat it there

Coming from a city and working in Ponoka I found it slim pickings in downtown ponoka but am very glad I stopped in here. Typical family run resturant, exellent food and service. My only reason for not leaving 5 stars is the place can use some updating but that's not a huge thing for me. All and all I will visit again and recommend to anyone looking for good western Chinese food.

Had a good lunch, portions were large and tasty, they very nicely accommodated splitting a grilled cheese for the grandkids

So because my town has horrible reviews for Chinese food, I was working in ponoka and wanted to eat some Chinese. Well I went to this place, walked in and almost wondered if they were even open. Only one lady was there with her daughter. And as for the waitress, she almost looked and sounded confused to why me and my coworker were in there. I must say, I think the lady who works there is a little weird and a little off. And I'm a person who is really skeptical about the curb appeal and presentation of food industry places. So I wasn't sure about this place. But the food was really good. And I was very happy. The chef even allowed me to order a half order of rice to go. Word of advice - order take out!

Whenever we return to Edmonton from Calgary, this is our favorite restaurant to eat at. It stays open late and has a wide range of dishes to choose from.
