The Mexican food was good, but it was disappointing that they were out of pork chops, which is the house specialty we came to try. The service was decent, and the chips and salsa were excellent. We plan to give it another shot in the future. View all feedback.
What Inna Z doesn't like about Tornandez Mexicano:
We were in the area and looked this place up based on yelp reviews. I don’t know who is reviewing the place but they can’t be legitimate reviews. I feel bad writing a bad review for a family owned business but our experience was horrible from start to finish. First, we waited 1 hr for the food to arrive. When you walk through the door, you smell the amazing food. It's beautifully decorated with cultural paintings. My sister and I both ordered the beef empanadas with rice and beans and my brother in-law had the chicken chimichanga. Both entrees were full of deliciousness. Perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The horchata is amazing! The owner Minerva, is super awesome. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in Jersey. This Arizona girl highly recommends eating here.

I feel bad writing a bad review for a family owned business but our experience was horrible from start to finish. First, we waited 1 hr for the food to arrive. The place was half empty so I can’t imagine how long you wait if the place is busy. I ordered fajitas and was happy when it finally arrived until I took my first bite. The meat was so over cooked, it was inedible. Both steak and chicken were destroyed and shrimp not much better. I don’t like to waste food but after a few bites I was ready to throw it in the garbage.
I cannot say anything about the food that has not already been said.. what I really enjoy is the atmosphere. The authentic Mexican attire that surrounds the establishment is very fun to look at. The colors of the restaurant are very Aztec.. and when I heard the Mexican conversation that was coming from the kitchen it made me smile. Like as though I was back at home.. very honest place. And the flan gets ordered by the whole pie. I have ordered it several times just to bring as a dessert.. my wife and I usually eat their two to three times a month.. we bring friends.. We bring family. And some of the people just look familiar.. Oh yeah. And when those sizzling fajitas come out from the kitchen it is like hearing the birthday song everybody looks to see who's getting at.. thanks for keeping your customers smiling and full..
The food was very good, but the service was very very slow. There was only one other table there when we got there and they were already served. One of the employees I believe the daughter of the owner (since she said my mom said we should start cleaning up if we are slow) fixed herself food and ate it in the dinning room while she watched something on her phone (loudly). She would answer the phone for take out orders or questions all while sitting there, never once getting up to help in the kitchen or anything to help speed things along.
Service was great. Food even greater. Fajitas are in the top 5 I've had. Molé sauce at $4.50 a side I thought was expensive but hey, everything else is well priced.
