Just ate lunch at Offshore BBQ with my daughters. Rich, the owner, came out to say hello and walk us though the menu. We had pulled pork, ribs and brisket with ALL the sides slaw, beans, chips and fries. It was awesome. Best of all, 3 of us had lunch for under $40. I was really impressed! View all feedback.
What Kristofor Bloomquist doesn't like about Offshore Bbq:
Worst lunch Ever!!!!! The pulled pork and mozz was burnt on both sides. Not slightly burnt, but inedible burnt. Mac n cheese was the worst I ever had. Overcooked and zero seasoning. Nothing creamy and cheesy about it. Right in the garbage. Called the business and received a rude guy who wouldn?t give his name. Said that?s how it comes and hung up on me. Very professional ???????? Should?ve stuck with Woodchucks or Hi... View all feedback.
The kids seemed almost asleep and didn't appear to care about the business. They discussed their tip before even preparing the takeout sandwich. I wouldn't return.
The ribs were so tender that they fell right off the bone—absolutely delicious! The prices were very reasonable. I really enjoyed the seasoning on the French fries. They served generous slabs of white bread, and the coleslaw was uniquely fun and different.
The owner refused to honor the certificate after the staff member sent him a text with a copy of the receipt. He claimed that the writing on the back of the receipt wasn’t his, and he stubbornly refused to accept it. The staff member wouldn’t call him back so I could discuss it with him directly. I suspect that the person who was on duty when I bought the gift certificate wrote the note, likely after inquiring with the owner about how to issue a gift card without having physical cards available. I can’t review the food since I’ve never tasted it and probably never will. I sent an email to the owner, but it went unanswered. This whole experience has left me very disappointed for several reasons. The owner finally did respond via email, but now he claims it was an e-certificate. This is absolutely unacceptable. There's no way he can justify this; nothing about this transaction indicated it was electronic.
Ordered 1 pound of brisket, 1 pound of wings and fries. Apparently, they ran out of brisket, so tried to sub turkey. Weird substitution, for sure. Called and asked to sub ribs. Received 4 ribs. 8 wings and some fries. Wings were cold and undercooked. Chicken meat was pink and a little **** in a couple places. Inedible. Ribs had tremendous flavor and were fall of the bone tender. Only complaint was temperature. Again, cold. We live a couple miles away, so should have at least been warm by the time we got home. Fries. Not good. To much seasoning, and not fresh. Not hot. Soggy stale. BBQ sauce. Very tasty. Good flavor. Little sweet but plenty of spice. I had read a lot of reviews and really wanted a good place nearby. Tired of making the trek to Mutiny BBQ in Asbury all the time. But will continue to do so. That said, bummed about the substitution. Bummed that 4 ribs somehow equates to a full pound of boneless brisket. I don't think it does. And bummed that the wings were inedible and undercooked. Fries meh. Just a pass. Responding to the Owner'a Reply. Just to be clear, no one was late for the pick up. The food was ordered and arrived promptly. The wings we're definitely undercooked. I have my own grill and smoker and these wings were not prepared correctly at all. Also, the food was indeed cold. But, it's not a function of being late or slow. Perhaps you should consider checking with your staff before blaming the customer. Normally, I'd let it go. But, I know bbq. And I know when something isn't right; hence, my detailed review, which I stand by.
First time here because Coastal was closed and JS BBQ doesn't quite knock my socks off. Walked in to an empty joint, fans blowing and a somewhat disheveled dining area. The place really did seem deserted, however there were two young people hiding in the shadows on their phones. We placed our order, wiped the crumbs off the cleanest looking table and took a seat. The sauce, two paper plates and plastic cutlery were delivered to us. Our food was then delivered on a tray which I thought was confusing. Why weren't the sandwiches just served on the plates? Anyway, we thought the sandwiches were just ok. Maybe they would have been better if we used the sauce. As you can see though, the sauce dispensers are just repulsive. The fries were undercooked and the drink selection is extremely limited. The only thing worthy of an A plus in my opinion is the music. Considering I was very concerned about food poisoning I barely touched this food and I definitely will not be returning.
