Monopole - Plattsburgh
Monopole
Description
A historic and somewhat eclectic bar in the city, this spot offers a unique atmosphere and friendly service. While the layout may be a bit odd, the cool vibe of the place is undeniable. Customers can enjoy billiards, darts, and more while waiting for their drinks. The Sicilian pizza is a must-try, adding to the overall positive dining experience. With cash-only transactions and a laid-back Sunday night ambiance, this bar is a welcoming spot for anyone new in town. Overall, a great place to grab a drink and enjoy a relaxed evening with friendly staff and patrons.

Feedback
The staff is extremely rude, the food is mediocre at best, and there is a strong odor in the bar. I would rate this place 0 out of 5 stars. One of the bouncers uses offensive language and another is eager to pick fights with larger individuals. If you are looking for a place to start a physical altercation, this bar is perfect for you.
During our return trip to the USA from Montreal, we decided to stop for dinner at Monopole. We chose this restaurant for its historical atmosphere and convenient location. The restaurant gives off a local tavern vibe, with a bar on one side and a seating area with games and TV's on the other side. Unfortunately, we found the food to be lacking in quality. Almost everything on the menu was either baked in a pizza oven or fried. Despite our request for a salad, we were informed that they do not serve salads. We ended up ordering a pizza and chicken tenders. The square-shaped pizza was tasty but unimpressive, with a thick dough. It seems that many locals enjoy this place, but if we find ourselves in the area again, we will likely choose a different restaurant.
This downtown bar has a cool and historic vibe, but it unfortunately attracts a somewhat unwelcoming crowd that can be racist and xenophobic. As a non-white person, I didn't feel completely comfortable here, but the locals usually stick to themselves. I've had better experiences at other local spots since moving here. The bartender and cashier were friendly, though. The Sicilian pizza here is mostly bread and not quite what I would consider pizza. Despite these drawbacks, the bar has a unique charm and is rumored to be haunted. The food is decent, you can play billiards while you wait, and the cocktails are tasty.
Lovely service. Family atmosphere and the hospitality was amazing. The local families were having a blast with the live music. It was lovely to see.
A terrible business run by terrible people. nobody except her one person will actually talk to you like your a person, unless ofc you're in the inner circle. very cliquey and they very obviously pick favorites. its also disgusting in there and the food has gone downhill recently. used to be a really good place back in the day when i was in college but now its trash. only giving one star cause i have to leave a review. also has anyone noticed the wires just there on the outside of the building? thats gotta be a safety hazard of some sorts. the place is awful the service is bad. just don't waste your time and go to one of the many other lovely bars in plattsburgh.
