The menu is described as limited, but well-executed, with standout items like the focaccia and herbed butter starter. Overall, opinions on The Commoner vary, with some diners planning to return for the excellent service and delicious food, while others advise looking elsewhere for a more satisfying dining experience.
Had breakfast. The restaurant was very quiet. Food, service and ambience were great.
Food is hit-or-miss. Brussels sprouts appetizer was quite good. The cavatelli entree was very bland. The bar is nice and has a good selection.
Excellent service and a nice small menu that changes up a bit but seems to always have at least one vegetarian options. The mushroom barley risotto was fabulous and a unique spin on a risotto.
Visiting Pittsburgh we googled suggestions for breakfast. We came here for breakfast. Plenty of open tables. Not busy. We were a party of 4. The hostess acknowledged us. Left us standing. Finally returned to say, leave your number. We will call if a table comes available. Of course we chose to leave. I turned to ask if she knew of another breakfast spot. She immediately told me to use Google. I do not recommend this establishment.
The Caesar salad was really good. The chicken was dry and not much flavor. The menu lacked variety and the food was just overall ok.
