Good, flavorful Vietnamese cooking with lots of vegan options. I really enjoyed my bun vegan. The tofu and seitan are magnificent. Looking forward to trying more off their vegan menu next time I visit Pittsburgh. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Tan Lac Vien:
this place has a separate vegan menu that is convenient, but eating has not blown away me. Maybe I'm pampered because I spent time in vietnam, but the dishes we ordered while good, were nothing special to write to home. if they like spicy food, ask for some of the chili oil from the kitchen. the dinge appeared on a solid note when added. I appreciate the separate vegan menu at this restaurant, but the food didn't exceed my expectations. My time in Vietnam may have spoiled me, as the dishes we ordered, while good, were not outstanding. However, if you enjoy spicy food, make sure to ask for some of the chili oil from the kitchen. It definitely elevated the dishes to the next level.
We tried Tan Lac Vien for the first time last night and were thrilled to find a separate vegan section on their menu. The menu was labeled as Temporary Menu on both sides, but we assumed it referred to the vegan options. We ordered the vegan broken rice and the vegan bungalow, both of which came with a side of teriyaki tofu. The flavors were amazing - smoky and full of umami. One of the best side dishes we've ever had. We were very pleased with our food and service and will definitely return. Highly recommended! The only downside was the men's restroom, which was a bit dingy and dirty. While it didn't bother me personally, it may be off-putting to some. My wife mentioned that the women's restroom was spacious and clean. On the other hand, we could see the kitchen from our seats and it was impeccably clean, which is important to us. Overall, Tan Lac Vien provided a fantastic new dining experience.
The Vietnamese cuisine at this restaurant is excellent, with many delicious vegan choices available. I particularly enjoyed the bungalow vegan dish, and the Tofu and Seitan were also fantastic. I am excited to come back to Pittsburgh and try more items from their vegan menu on my next visit.
I visited a restaurant that offers a separate vegan menu, which was convenient. However, I wasn't particularly impressed by the food. Having spent time in Vietnam, I may be a bit spoiled, as the dishes we ordered, while tasty, weren't extraordinary. I recommend asking for some chili oil from the kitchen if you enjoy spicy food - it really elevated the flavors by adding a kick to the meal.
I adore the vegan tom yum soup. They have a extensive vegan menu available.
