Breakfast At Shelly's
Description
Nestled in Allentown, Shelly's has garnered a loyal following with its inviting atmosphere and scrumptious breakfast offerings. Diners rave about the pancakes—particularly the blueberry and indulgent peanut butter chocolate chip versions—alongside perfectly cooked eggs and crispy bacon. With friendly service and a relaxed vibe, the restaurant serves up hearty portions at reasonable prices. However, there's a notable downside: wait times for pickup orders can be excessively long. Despite this, Shelly's remains a beloved neighborhood gem for anyone craving delicious, home-style cooking, making it a must-visit for locals and out-of-town guests alike.

I have been ordering from Shelly's for years without any issues. However, I recently ran into a problem when they unexpectedly closed half an hour before their posted closing time. When I tried to call to place an order, I was told they were no longer taking any more orders even though I was just a minute away. This left me feeling frustrated as I had been looking forward to grabbing some food from them. They then explained that they close at 3 PM but make exceptions until 3:30 PM for customers. If they were going to make changes to their hours, they should have updated their schedule accordingly. I am disappointed with this experience and may reconsider ordering from them in the future.
The service was efficient, the food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. I recommend going and enjoying a meal at this restaurant.
The wait time for a pickup order at this restaurant is extremely long. I waited over 45 minutes for a simple steak sandwich, which is much longer than the wait times I've experienced at other restaurants like Texas Roadhouse, Applebee's, and Olive Garden. Despite these restaurants being busy, they are able to prepare orders quickly because they have enough staff to handle the workload.
Stopped by Breakfast at Shelly's (heretofore referred to as just Shelly's because we were trying out a new place. Also we don't get to Allentown enough, so it all worked out.Walking into Shelly's it seemed like a small place, and half of it was empty. Like physically not that there weren't customers but there weren't tables! There's just a 20 foot entry area where maybe tables would go? Possibly a Covid thing? At any rate, don't let it fool you, just keep waking until you hit the seating area. You'll want to, because it's a great breakfast spot.Had some pancakes, both the blueberry as well as the peanut butter and chocolate chip. Also got a side of eggs and bacon (my breakfast joint litmus test) and everything was terrific. The blueberries were sweet and tart and really complimented the pancakes. The peanut butter and chocolate chip pancakes were exactly what an 11 year old me would dream about. It was like Resses' Pancakes. Awesome.Good coffee, nice crisp bacon and they know how to make scrambled eggs. Totally going again.
