Bar Marco - Pittsburgh
Bar Marco
Description
Bar Marco is a hidden gem located in an old fire engine building in Pennsylvania. While the food received mixed reviews, with some finding it too spicy or lacking in taste, the drinks were praised for being really good, especially the espresso martini. The atmosphere was described as nice and intimate, with excellent service. The restaurant stands out for its inclusive approach to employee compensation, as tips are already included in the prices. Despite some minor issues, such as the high cost of bread and dipping oil, Bar Marco has received glowing reviews for its unique dishes, exceptional service, and overall dining experience. It is highly recommended for those looking for a memorable meal in Pittsburgh.

Delightful brunch with excellent quality food and service. The smoked salmon benedict over a johnny cake with hollandaise and mixed greens salad tasted amazing. We shared the house bacon (cadamon and brown sugar) as well and it was a perfect compliment to our entrees. Wonderful and intimate artsy atmosphere in a historic building adds to this charming dining experience. Then when you consider hospitality is included, you may be paying a bit more for your menu prices, but no worries about tips and you’re helping them pay their employees a living wage that includes health insurance. Bar Marco is perfect!!! A model establishment many others should strive to emulate.
I can't say enough about the whole team here. The owner, Dominic the Som, chefs and service. Had a great bachelorette dinner in the wine room. They put so much passion and attention into our food and wine pairings. We had some difficult food allergies and they made them food that was the equivalent of everyone else's, not just simple substitutions or missing items. They treated us all like VIPs!
So good!!!! First, the Somm was on point and suggested the best Sicilian Rose. The burger may just be the one of the best I've had in the city. The ramp and arugula pesto is among the best pasta I've ever had. Period. The lobster bucatini with mint: amazing. Honestly, the best brunch I've had in sooooo long. And, the strip is such a nice setting.
Came to Bar Marco for dinner. The food was pretty good, I had the baked ricotta with shishito peppers.. something I’ve never had together before. The fusilli was my main, and I really enjoyed the ragu sauce with it. Was so full we skipped dessert. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice too!Food: 4/5
First time in Pittsburgh, wanted to try the best restaurant in town, and this didn’t disappoint. I’m absolutely in love with their potato gnocchi. The desserts were all right but the meal itself was WOW!! We also found out that it’s “no a tip” restaurant which made it very affordable for what we got!Food: 5/5
