Menu
Here you will find the menu of Alta Via in Pittsburgh. At the moment, there are 189 menus and drinks on the list.
Alta Via, a member of the Big Burrito family, falls short in the food department according to some diners. While the paparadelle and short rib dish disappoints, the burrata appetizer shines. Despite some inconsistencies and under-seasoned dishes, the pork chop receives rave reviews. The pasta dishes, particularly the cacio e pepe, impress with generous portions. Compliments flow in for the ambiance, service, and variety of the wine list. Overall, the experience at Alta Via is elevated by attentive servers like Laura, although some find the meals to be somewhat lacking in flavor. Nevertheless, the restaurant is praised for its hospitality and exceptional dining experiences.

Was Robert Popa Emil at Alta Via a mag?
First visit based on word of mouth. Our waiter Billy was amazing and had already worked with the kitchen to identify menu options for my wife’s food allergy. The food was great starting with an artichoke appetizer that alone is worth a repeat visit. View all feedback.
What Pedro Ziemann dislikes about Alta Via:
Alta Via continues to be a just ok restaurant, one of the weak links, I think, in the Big Burrito family. This was our third visit...we were seeing a movie at Waterworks, and this was an easy dinner stop. The food, alas, was not so good. Not terrible, just not good. When I order paparadelle with short ribs, I do not expect a creamy, sweet sauces with little squares of short ribs. The burrata appetizer was fine, but n... View all feedback.
Our meal was great. We were celebrating a long overdue friends get together. We split a number of appetizers including our favorite: the Brussels Sprouts. The beans and greens are super creamy and the pesto on them is a great touch. Everything we ate was superb but the star of the evening was definitely the roast chicken. It is so moist and tender, and served on the most wonderful smashed/roasted/Parmesan potatoes. The accompanying piccata sauce is a perfect accompaniment. Service was excellent, the drinks were tasty and our experience overall was outstanding.
Delicious birthday dinner at Alta Via. Husband and I shared the Brussels sprout salad, one of our favorites. The focaccia was served with butter and olive oil and salt. Husband had the pappardelle and I had the squid ink fettuccine with rock shrimp, spinach and tomatoes. The 1/2 order of pappardelle was plentiful. I I ordered a full order of fettuccine with hopes to have the left overs for lunch. It was delicious with plenty of shrimp. However, 6 hours later I was sick. Assume it was the shrimp so will not be eating the leftovers. However, will definitely order this item off the menu again as it was delicious. Contaminated seafood is a growing problem in the US. Finished off the meal with olive oil cake which was served with a birthday candle. Hannah, our waitress was what everyone wants in a waitress. Communicative, explaining the different entrees when asked, making recommendation, checking back often but not being intrusive. Alta Via is lucky to have Hannah.
Truly an amazing restaurant! The food, staff, welcoming atmosphere and great menu have placed this gem at the top of my list. What I loved: 1. Welcoming staff that make sure you know they care. 2. Great gourmet Vegetarian selections on the menu...finally a good place to take my Vegan mom when she comes to visit. 3. A choice of tasty mocktails on the menu...one of the few places with good food that I don't have to miss an accompanying beverage. 4. Delightful presentation....especially dessert. It looked so inviting I totally forgot to take a picture and dug right into the chocolate torte. It was as good as it looked too! 5. Prompt service and attentive wait staff. Even though I went on arguably the busiest night of the year (Valentine's Day) the pace of the restaurant was fluid, Staff was relaxed, I waited for nothing and the food came out at perfect temperatures. What I didn't like: I ran out of space in my tummy and couldn't order another mocktail. Highly Recommend! Vegetarian options: It was so nice to see an interesting selection that treated vegetarian dishes with the same degree of detail. It's so hard to find a great place to take my vegetarian momin Pittsburgh that creates something really wow. I will be bringing her as soon as possible to enjoy.
