McKay’s Bar and Restaurant in Pitlochry offers a varied dining experience, with mixed reviews from visitors. While some praised the excellent fish and chips, welcoming atmosphere, and accommodating staff, others were disappointed by the poor value for money, outdated rooms, and cleanliness issues. Despite the mixed opinions, many visitors enjoyed their meals, with highlights being the scampi, soup and sandwiches, and surf and turf. The restaurant itself presents a lively and comfortable atmosphere, but it is suggested to reserve a table in advance. Overall, McKay’s Bar and Restaurant offers a charming dining experience with room for improvement.

Lovely vibe of hotel! Amazing for the price. We went in January so was pretty quiet but i loved it! Went to the restaurant for dinner, amazing food. Fish and chips was honestly to die for! We will definitely come back with our dog next time.

We first ate in your restaurant four years ago and we still talk about the great breakfast we had. We love this place! It has a great atmosphere, the service is friendly and the food is delicious! I highly recommend McKay’s Bar and Restaurant. You will not be disappointed!

Had drinks here night out of the four we stayed in Pitlochry and the pub and outdoor seating had a lovely ambience and is warm and welcoming. Would highly recommend for a drink. Covid measures in place in the restaurant and bar area. Stayed for a meal our last night. Ordered scampi as a main x and it was straight out the chipper next door with a little salad on the side. It’s was really nice but not worth spending per meal in the restaurant when the same thing from the chipper to sit in next door would have been half the price minus the small salad on the side. Only real concern was that the ladies toilets felt quite dirty with sticky door

This restaurant offers extremely poor value for money. I paid £20 for two cheese and chutney sandwiches, which were not up to par with the quality bread you can find in a supermarket meal deal. The meal only came with a few cheap tortilla chips and no side salad. I would suggest choosing a different place for lunch in Pitlochry.

Upon arrival, we were informed that our room was located in the townhouse across the street. Finding the townhouse was easy, but we were extremely disappointed when we entered the room. It felt like we had stepped back in time. Not only did we discover dead bugs in the bunkbed drawers, but the room also had limited socket availability, extension leads everywhere, a kettle next to the TV, and a broken thermostat control for the heated towel rail. Our hopes for a refreshing shower were quickly dashed when we realized the water pressure was barely a dribble. To make matters worse, when we complained about the state of the room, we were told that the last three groups before us had also complained. The owner apparently knows about the issues but continues to place guests in the room until after the enchanted forest event. This level of greed is unacceptable. We would rather endure a three-hour drive home than stay here again. Additionally, we discovered that the room was classified as dog-friendly even though we had not requested it, and there were no alternative rooms available in case any of our party members were allergic.
