We had a fantastic stay! The food was amazing! Staff were great! They really went above and beyond to take care of you. We were recommended the local gin and tonic before dinner. It’s a must! The menu changed each day and did not disappoint! Would definitely recommend! Thank you to the team!
We were warmly welcomed. The suite was beautifully furnished and very clean. Everything necessary like in a five star hotel was available. For us, the suite is five stars like. The service was always attentive, friendly, courteous and always had everything in mind. Perfect, it doesn't get any better than this. The evening meal was very tastefully prepared and tasted great. For us, Knockandarroch was the absolute highlight of our holiday. Thank you to the whole team!
The staff were definitely lovely and helpful. The location is removed from main drag to avoid noise but close enough to walk and there is on-site parking. Dinner was exceptional and breakfast was fine. Service extremely accommodating and knowledgeable about my food issues. Unfortunately the room itself was underwhelming for what is billed as 4 star and the nightly rate paid. It was a premium room on floor 1. There was a strong musty odor immediately upon entering the room. One of the 4 windows was operable and not permanently locked. We kept open and asked for a fan, which was promptly brought to the room. There was no AC and I began to notice large dehumidifiers throughout public area. No USB port charging available, no safe, no makeup mirror. TV extremely small, to the point we had to get up and walk in front of it to read the guide. Water pressure was spotty and shower curtain didn't reach all the way around. The view was pretty and the decor in rooms and public areas is keeping with historic nature of the building. It might be more modern in the new garden rooms, so maybe look into those if the above would also be of concern too for you.
We visited this restaurant for the second time and we absolutely loved it. The room was comfortable with a fantastic view, the food was excellent, and the service was exemplary.
Firstly , the food was epic. Each plate a work of art and clearly the product of huge talent in the kitchen. The service was efficient and very good. Very good value too. However the general atmosphere and ambience was too staid and stiff for me. The food being fantastic is only part of the overall experience. A little unobtrusive background music would have made conversation and the general mood warmer -anything to soften the general atmosphere and make the acoustics and general feeling less inhibiting. Most of the diners seemed to be residents and we were welcomed with “ ahhh..you’re the non-residents “ . Also , on the night we went there , there were an awful lot of couples sitting in silence , dutifully consuming each course. Obviously this is no fault of the restaurant but along my above comments it all adds up
