What Magnolia Koelpin doesn't like about Callaway Resort Gardens:
the bike paths were maintained and great-the rooms felt like 1070-and the hostess at the piedmont and the guy at the front desk need lessons on how to do whatever you can to make it better for the customer View all feedback.
I traveled with three teenagers, and we had an amazing time filled with activities and fantastic restaurants. We enjoyed plenty of adventure and loved cycling all around. When we weren't on the property, we explored the small white house and visited FDR State Park.
Eager to book, we followed the link to reserve a golf cart, entered our dates, customer information, and other necessary details, although the only reservation details provided were about cancellations. Upon arriving at Callaway Gardens, we got our park entrance passes and made our way to the resort’s golf cart rental area. After checking in and paying for the cart, the front desk employee informed us that we couldn't drive our cart onto any Callaway Gardens property except along car-accessible roads, directly contradicting the claims on their website. Feeling confused but hoping for a stress-free day, we proceeded to our golf cart. As we drove around looking for a way into Callaway Gardens, we soon realized that we couldn't access the park—key card access was required for the security gates. We returned to the rental office to inquire about the access cards and were directed to the beach entrance, which was quite a distance by car. This detour wasted our time, especially considering we had already paid around $100 for park entry. When we finally reached the beach entrance gate, the staff there couldn't provide us with key card access as indicated by the golf cart employees. They suggested calling a security officer who might be able to meet us at a gate, but there was no guarantee since they could be occupied with other duties. Frustrated, we returned to the golf cart rental desk once again to ask how people usually gain access to the gardens with the golf cart, but no one could provide an answer. Essentially, we had rented a Callaway Cruiser but were unable to use it to access Callaway Gardens despite it being advertised on the website and in the park's activities guide. After wasting over three hours trying to navigate this issue with the Callaway Gardens staff, we requested a refund. However, the manager was unavailable at the time, and we had to call repeatedly until we finally reached him the next day to process our refund. This experience was not only frustrating but also a significant waste of our time and money. We were highly disappointed by the lack of employee knowledge, misleading advertising, inefficient communication, and poor customer care. It appears that different departments do not collaborate effectively, staff is not thoroughly trained, and the website needs urgent updates if the information it contains is outdated or incorrect. Overall, a deeply disappointing experience that could have been easily avoided.
I decided to take my son for a fun day in the sun before the school year starts, and it was nothing short of amazing. I will definitely be back! They offer a wide range of activities including water sports, cycling, ziplining, and even a meditation capsule.
Overall our stay was good, but our room teppich was worn and dirty. the seafood buffet was overpriced and underwhelming $45.00 per. we consider a return visit tho only from the buffet.
