I visited The Neighborly with my book club, and our experience was completely disappointing. Before we even finished our first round of cocktails, Nicole approached us to say we were being too loud and needed to quiet down. We were stunned, as we weren’t any louder than other tables in the already noisy restaurant. If a group of six women laughs together, naturally it’s louder than a table of two, but we were not disruptive. When I expressed how inappropriate it was to single us out on a busy Friday night, Nicole falsely claimed that five tables had complained—an obvious fabrication given the restaurant has only about 20 tables in total. We had planned to spend the evening enjoying the menu, cocktails, and our discussion, but it quickly became clear our patronage was unwelcome. Nicole then offered to move us outside, which felt like a subtle way of saying we weren’t welcome inside despite having a reservation. I suspect more dishonesty would have followed if pressed. To add to the disappointment, two of our party ordered the prime rib and filet, but the server mixed up the cooking temperatures, so neither could eat their meal. The cocktails were just average, and the overall service was poor. None of the six of us will ever return. We left as soon as possible and went next door to Doughbird, where the staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive—the exact opposite of our experience at The Neighborly. This was by far the worst dining experience I’ve ever had; it felt surreal, like a bad hidden camera prank. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100
