We just visited Phoenix and stumbled over this place, and it was some of the best Mexican food I ever had. There was a very generous amount of barbacoa, and all the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Her salsa also tastes very authentic, and her queen has a very nice taste. The servers were very friendly although they seemed overwhelmed. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Paz Cantina:
A former shell of its original self now serving mediocre-at-best Mexican food. It's a nice ambience and a nice alternative when you can't get a table at Chili's. The enchilada sauce tasted like it came from a can and the carnitas were basically boiled shredded pork. View all feedback.

This place has revived the city center for people like me who grew up in the area. Since the reopening of Paz Cantina I was curious to see how it would be. Joanna is still the muscle in the kitchen and seems to bend anywhere in the city center. In an area where Aaron Chamberlin(Phx Public Market, Tacos Chelo) , Doug Robson(Gallo Blanco, Otro Cafe) and Michael Babcock(Welcome Diner) reign, and with the completion of the DeSoto market, Paz Cantina has dominated the area of sheer size. Visit Nubia at the café for delicious coffee. You can also enjoy either a sit-dinner or a game on the terrace or one of the two bars while enjoying Joanna's creations....or you can enjoy in and enjoy free live music while serving your adult liberations via Venus and Lauren. As a Latino man who loves life and experiences his culture and grew up in the area when it was predominant Hispanic neighborhoods and an impoverished area, I am very pleased to have a place like Cantina in the hood. I can't say enough about how elated I am to have a place where I can experience food, music and culture where I grew up lovingly and was proud of it. It's nice to see so many people we grew up in. When you visit, you will see Alan, the owner, running in the background to take care of every minute details to ensure that everyone has an unforgettable experience. Note: If not for Pete Garcia (which I loved and admired) failed Mercado, nothing would have been possible.
Delicious food, great music, vibe and prices are reasonable and I mentioned that Essen was DELICIOUS. La Chica Torta is a must!!! AJ is an amazing waiter very friendly.
Delicious brunch and also a great place to go in the evening. We were there on a Friday night and they had a really great live band and great margaritas!
I’m not from the area and everyone has been hospitable and the food is delicious! I make a stop here every time I am in town!
