The staff was great a... read more Maybe I had high expectations. I have many friends who raved about Vetri and all the Food Channel best lists so I wanted to be blown away. The staff was great as we were 30 minutes late due to an accident on 95 but they accommodated us and I was thankful. We were celebrating our 25 year anniversary and felt lucky to get the reservation on our wedding day. The staff greeted us with anniversary greetings and I was very appreciative. We picked the 7 course tasting meal for the Fall season. First course was memorable. It was savory start, not something I was expecting but pleasantly surprised. Second course with shrimp, the shrimp was over cooked. Third- the Japanese Yam Gnocci pasta with cheese. Japanese yam usually has a sweeter taste but I couldn't place the yam in the pasta. the cheese in the yam was not over powering but didn't do much for the dish other than cheese pasta. 4th course, beef stuffed ravioli was ok. Nothing too much to comment. 5th, the sea food grilled dish, was ok too but nothing be blown away. The main dish the hen was beyond my expectations and it really was delicious. The sauce and the foie gras with perfectly cooked hen was really tasty and I wanted to licked the plate. Dessert was pure joy. Over all, given the price point, I enjoyed 3 out of 7 courses served. I am not sure if something has changed? I thought it should have been an amazing experience where I was going to travel to other places with the food but I am sorry to say I was disappointed. I am a little sorry that I put this dinner as my main activity for our anniversary. Sorry Vetri. I didn't want to not like you. I wanted to love you.
