Varga - Philadelphia
Varga
Description
Nestled in the heart of the city, Varga promises a lively atmosphere bolstered by a noteworthy beer and whiskey selection. While the service garners praise for its pleasantness, the food elicits varied reactions, ranging from delicious bites like cheese curds and wings to disappointing dishes such as bland salads and greasy fish tacos. Guests have noted issues with food preparation and allergen safety, alongside service hiccups. Nevertheless, with enjoyable drinks and charming outdoor seating, Varga remains a casual spot for those willing to overlook occasional missteps for a laid-back dining experience.

The drinks were great. service was excellent. the cheese curds and wings were delicious and the fish and chips were also wonderful. the fried green tomats and the calamari were excessively fried and did not end up as good as they could have been (smooth on calamari was good, as on fried green tomats.) the sky donut holes were disappointing, as there was not really a predominant sky taste. I would like to go back and try one of the sandwich options.
I was with 4 girlfriends for drinks and appetizers. It was a fun atmosphere and we all enjoyed our drinks and the cheese plate. I would love to go back and maybe sit outside.
I visited on New Year's Day and had a wonderful experience! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making it a fantastic way to kick off the year.
