Contribute FeedbackThe Royal restaurant offers fantastic food with generous portions, despite some reviews mentioning a decline in quality post-remodel and paid reviews. Highlights include praise for the burgers, vegan options, and classic cocktails. The atmosphere is described as a dive spot with friendly regulars, perfect for smoking on the second floor. The service is quick, and the music selection is a fun mix of genres. Although prices are a bit high, the delicious food, great drinks, and no-frills experience make it a worthy visit. Overall, The Royal promises a delightful dining experience with a unique charm.
The nachos, cesar salat, Brussels spear and the suppe of the day. loved all their vegan options. also tried their burgers, the fungalpatty was really tasteful. updated by previous review on 2020-01-24
Had a vegan cheese steak here two days in a row. can not recommend that sandwich high enough. several other vegan options on the menu (cheeseburger, club, and the special of vegan fried chicken to name some), but I had no chance to try them.
I love royal tavern and am for a trip here every day! from brunch menu to lunch and dinner menu there are some vegetarian/vegan options to try. both the vegan burger and the vegan cheese steak are delicious, and the sloppy jous is full of nostalgia and taste. Get old bay fries on the side! for the brunch is the vegan shreds a solid option, but they have vegan red velvety pancakes when that is their kind of cache (it is not mine, but I know some will be on it). it's a Ted-dunk in here, so don't bring your mother without her reading glasses as I did.
Royal Tavern is a great vegan find: Scrumptious vegan dishes represented half of the main menu when I ate there with friends today. The burger is beyond incredible and my carnivorous friend described the award-winning (Best in Philly 2015) vegan cheesesteak as spot on The wait staff is great and there's free street parking. They even have vegan desserts. Highly recommended!
Fantastic food! Pricey-ish, but you get a lot of food for your money. I could only eat about 1/4 of my tempeh Club and 1/2 the fries. My son got the sloppy Joe and my husband got the philly cheese steak and nobody was disappointed!
