Was Daina M at Dmitri's a mag?
We also had the shrimp pil pil and grilled halloumi, both of which we were very pleased with. We shared a grilled bluefish that was the special of the day. By that time, I was too full to fully appreciate it, but my cousin really enjoyed it! The portion sizes were quite generous for the price as well.

What Monica C dislikes about Dmitri's:
I ordered the Grilled Salmon dinner platter, which was delicious and had great flavor thanks to the seasoning. We also tried the Sautéed Mussels, and they were fantastic! However, my husband ordered the Calamari Platter for his meal, and he was let down because it had an unpleasant, musty smell. Hopefully, during our next visit, he’ll try something different.

I visited this restaurant last night with a few friends for dinner. We were seated within 20 minutes, which was fortunate since the place is quite small. The service was good, and the food was excellent! I really enjoyed the shrimp pil pil, although I thought the pan-fried scallops were just average. Their hummus and pita, as always, were outstanding.
My husband and I were famished and we were looking for the closest restaurant in the neighborhood and found Dmitri's! So glad we did. For appetizers, we ordered the shrimp and the octopus. The shrimp was bangin. It has a lot of flavor, juicy and crunchy. Best combo everrr. The octopus in my opinion was a little dry. I can live without ordering it ever again lol. As for the entree, my husband and I shared a humongous branzino. It was delicious. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the bread and pesto oil they give you is money. I couldn't stop eating it! It's byob so make sure you bring your wine from home but if you don't there is a wine place near by. I'll def be back and recommend!
Met with a friend who works at Jefferson's Hosptial and he recommended this place for my fiancée birthday. First and foremost, parking was a ****. Took us about 25 minutes to find a parking spot, very typical for this area of Philadelphia. So plan ahead. While speaking of plan ahead, it's a cash only venue. The restaurant itself is very small and intimate. We had high table in front for 3 people. It was a small table and with a few condiments on there, it took up a majority of the space. I really enjoyed the complimentary grilled pita bread and oil. I ordered the Shrimp Pil Pil $17), it's lightly breaded shrimp with a garlic and chili sauce on top. It's very garlicky with a kick! The portion came very generously with about a dozen shrimp . It was overly salty for my taste bud. The shrimp was crunchy and hard, each was a little inconsistent. For my main course, I had a the steam seafood which I was told that it's just a bouillabaisse with mussels, clams, tilapia, scallop, and shrimp. The portion is huge and it comes with a side of rice and steam escarole. The food reminds me someone little grandma cooking's. It was okay, the flavor was good but again a little heavy on the salt.

On another note, parking can be a challenge. We usually park about two blocks up near South Street in a paid lot for $15. It's well-lit and feels safe there. Overall, I still love the restaurant and look forward to our next visit!

The only reason I gave a four-star rating instead of five is that the service was lacking. Our waitress only visited our table once, and we often had to keep an eye out for her in order to place our orders or ask for anything. Aside from that, we loved the ambiance, the food, and the fact that it's BYOB!
