What User doesn't like about Szechwan Zen Chinese Restaurant:
We had been here before and enjoiyed the Dim Sum. As it was in our Entertainment Book we decided to visit agaoin for the Dim Sum. When we got there we were seated immediately, given a Menu then virtuoly forgotten. After wading thru a huge heavy leather menu and finding only a few small items at the back of it, we finally attracted some attention and asked for the Dim Sum menu as the piece of paper on the table was on... It was a very interesting experience, the food was fine, not outstanding, not bad. Service was very good.

Went to this restaurant with few friends who have all been to Sichuan and Chongqing (except for one person). The food was cooked the traditional Sichuan way with lots of chili, spices, dried chilies, chili peppercorn. The Mapo Tofu was flavored with chili peppercorns which the one friend who haven't been to Sichuan didn't like it (due to after taste) as he was used to the way it is made by Hong Kong chefs. The lamb cube dish which was okay, tasted more like how the Uighur cooked it in Xinjiang. If you have never been to Sichuan and/or Chongqing, the taste of food here may surprise those used to the Cantonese style of cooking.
Recently went to this restaurant using the entertainment book, after checking the menu, decided that there was not much that suited us, almost left but the waiter went through the menu with us and made suggestions to suit our "Western" style ( my words). The food that came out was delicious and full of flavour. With the discount voucher it was great value and a good find for the future. If you do go to this restaurant we recommend you listen to the suggestions made by the staff, because it is easy to be put off by some items in the colourful menu.
We had been to this place many times before for Dim Sum during the day and the main menu at night. Both styles of food on every occasion we went was very good.Unfortunately it would appear from what we experienced last night that this restaurant has changed hands. Gone is the professional service of the past. Now you have the most disorganised management and staff you have ever seen. It would appear that nobody knows what they are doing. So much so that customers were going up to the counter to ask for service. If you are lucky you will eventually get food and if you are really lucky it will be what you ordered. Then comes the biggest test of all. Eating it. We struggled. So did others around us. People were getting up and leaving plates of food on the table. We at least complained about our food but most of the staff don't speak fluent English so they just smile and nod. Surely the owner or manager of this restaurant can see that customers are just walking out the door because the food is horrible.
