Was Elizabeth Ratke at Meat Candy a mag?
I loved this place! Great southern fare in a wonderfully decorated restaurant. We went the $39 'feed me' option which provided a range of tasty treats and resulted in a full tummy. Starters, fried chicken, salads, and dessert. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in Perth! View all feedback.

What Damian Brown dislikes about Meat Candy:
Had the brussel sprouts, wings and fried chicken here. The coating on the fried chicken was one of the crunchiest I've tasted in my life. It wasn't thick and greasy, but really a good, strong crunch. The chicken was also tender. However the seasoning is where it fell short. I could taste no spice or salt. When you have fried chicken you want a flavour that really hits you square in the jaw and instead it just tasted p... View all feedback.

Cheese burger and chicken sandwich with fries was nice. There was a yummy smokey flavour on the fries and the chicken was super crunchy. I wasnt sold on the hot sauce wished I could've swaps that for something else but they don't do Aoli or Mayo. We got a nice ranch to dip our chips in though. The menu didn't have the croquettes everyone on here was raving about which is a little sad and the menu is quite small. But what we ordered they did we'll. The food was yum and the service was friendly and fast (only us and two other tables full at the time)

I was really pleasantly surprised by our visit to Meat Candy. The mac and cheese and potato and gravy side dishes are the bomb. The fried chicken (medium) tasted good though my only complaint is how the batter separates from the chicken. I also like that they had alcoholic root beer on their menu. Friendly service. Will come back.

Candy's Meat Platter for 2 consists of 8x lamb ribs (not pictured), 2x fried chicken, 2x pork belly, 2x hushpuppies, smoked chicken, pulled pork, coleslaw, sauerkraut & pickled onions. For $35pp we thought it was actually quite small, it needed at least another piece of fried chicken or pork belly each, or at least another side. When we ordered 2 platters for 4 people and requested different spiciness on our chicken (1 non-spicy and 1 spicy), the waitress told us we couldn't do that and it had to be all the same, we questioned why that was and she couldn't really answer but informed us that she would check with the chef. As far as we know, we ordered 2 different platters and assuming that the chicken pieces were all pre-chopped and then battered separately, we could not see the fuss. I didn't personally eat the lamb ribs but they looked skinny and when I tasted the sauce, the maple syrup made it very sweet. The fried chicken was ok, although the batter was still as mediocre and dry as the first time we had it. Our portion of pulled pork had a good flavour but it was too mushy. The best thing on this platter was probably those pieces of pork belly, they were smokey and juicy but the rest was very average. We also ordered a mac n cheese hoping that it also had pulled pork like last time but it didn't so it was super disappointing, and the cheese actually tasted like packaged Kraft mac n cheese. All in all this was definitely the first and last time for some of us. The customer service received was average, the staff wasn't particular warm and friendly. The outdoor area was also very cold and dark. With so many great BBQ places around, Meat Candy really needs to lift their game otherwise you can clearly see why Side Door BBQ would always be the place to meat. hippokathy.weebly.com
