It is very hard to... read more This restaurant was the best of many great restaurants that we dined at in Italy. The menu is so creative and every item was very delicious. It is very hard to find, so you must have good directions. Only 6 tables inside or outside depending on the weather. You must have a reservation as the chef is basically cooking just for you and a few other diners. This is a truly special place that feels like you have stumbled upon a secret dinner spot in the basement of someones home or on their private patio. If you are in the Varenna area, you must make the effort to dine here!

Every corner is lovingly decorated, so you can discover small details over and over again. Guests are sitting under a wine roof. Lights made of old wine bottles are illuminating the garden. Soft music accompanies the the relaxed and calm ambient. The restaurant is perfect for a romantic candle light dinner as well as for a family dinner. We were there with our two children who loved their pasta with butter and cheese. The menu is small and exquisite with each two starters, primi and secondi. We chose eggs with zucchini, fish carpaccio, risotto with beetroot and the catch of day from lake Como. As dessert we chose Creme Brûlée with blueberries and Panna Cotta with Rose flavoring, salt and chocolate crumble. All of it was very delicious with an exceptional taste and as well, lovingly decorated. In sum we had a wonderful and delightful evening. Therefor we would highly recommend.

You drive through the... read more My wife and I ate here after a recommendation from our Air BNB host. The restaurant is about a 10 minute drive from the heart of Varenna. You drive through the meandering and ancient town of Gittana. Our taxi dropped us at the end of a winding stone stair case that runs through the town. As you make your way on the stone path you feel like you are going back in time. The restaurant is located in an old building oozing with character. It is a small space that is beautifully decorated. The trip there and the ambience is worth the visit alone. The food makes it mandatory. It is a small gourmet menu show casing local ingredients and the chefs brilliant culinary talents. Everything we orders was fantastic, with a special mention to the escarole starter and the sausage pasta. The desert of pancotta and tiramisu was transformative. This simply can not be missed if you are staying in the area. Be adventurous and experience the culinary genius and outstanding services that is on offer.
