Shame really, I wanted this to be our local but we went for a meal there yesterday and my fish and chips were dripping in grease, so much so that the fat drippe... read more Shame really, I wanted this to be our local but we went for a meal there yesterday and my fish and chips were dripping in grease, so much so that the fat dripped over off the fish onto the table, even the chips were soggy and greasy. I think they just needed draining for a bit. Hubby loved his steak pie but he's not over fussy, the sticky toffee pudding wad nice though. Barmaid was very polite and efficient. Not sure I'd go back UPDATE NEW OWNERS AND THE FOOD IS LOVELY!

An evening meal was convened here before a country could continue. easy to find, just a few minutes car from a30. parking on the road. 6 of us on a table. not a... read more An evening meal was convened here before a country could continue. easy to find, just a few minutes car from a30. parking on the road. 6 of us on a table. not a big choice, but perhaps that is the reason why it works, steak, fish and chips, cake of the day, jäger chicken mainstays. drinks soon arrived enough, eating was a bit longer, but they had a series of diners and a party of 12 but that was worth it. also a new whitebait starter, plentiful and pleasant. the staff was polite, busy, but easy to go. fire in the other half of the pub, but much warm enough for us about 20m away. all were decent for our eternal hungry teenagers. Nice that we stopped.

The staff were also helpful and chatty without being intrusive. Due to social distancing tables were well spaced and all Covid regulations adhered to.
