Food was very good. The enchiladas were so flavorful, this is the first time I had such delicious enchiladas. The fusion drinks were good too. We were party of 4. Ordered drinks, guacamole, Santa Barbara Enchiladas(shrimp &chicken enchiladas), Chili Verdeand Southwest chicken tostada, Enjoyed the yummy food. Would surely visit again.
Just sat at the bar to have some food while waiting for our car to charge. Sadly, my husband was verbally harassed for ordering a non alcoholic beer by a young, terribly unprofessional bartender. There was so much wrong with the situation that it’s notworth expanding on here. What had been a decent experience up until the shift change when this young man showed up, was souredby his ignorant display. Completely careless and offensive. Don’t bother wasting your money here. Follow Up: To the owner whoresponded did you read my review? The young man made fun of my husband with an off color joke about him drinking anon alcoholic beer. He felt singled out and we were both immediately alienated. It’s unconscionable and should never happen.Everyone should be able to enjoy themselves at your restaurant despite their order and their personal decision to not drinkalcohol. This was an ignorant mistake by your bartender that we hope never happens again.
The food at this restaurant was not up to par compared to previous years. The enchilada and beans were overcooked and the chicken in the taco was dry. There was no host or hostess at the front desk to welcome guests, and one couple even left due to the long wait. After waiting 5-7 minutes, a server reassured us that someone would assist us, but no one ever did. Another server finally directed us to a table.
Been coming here well over 10 years. The shrimp tacos and margueritas never disappoint.
Unfortunately, El Cholo, once a beloved Pasadena staple, has experienced a decline in quality. I used to enjoy dining there when it was on Fair Oaks, but after relocating to the mall, I worried that maintaining the space would be challenging. Sadly, my concerns were justified. The atmosphere now feels disorganized and unclean, with dirty walls, chipped paint, and mismatched lighting that ruin any chance of a welcoming ambiance. The overall environment is quite depressing, and the menu offerings are average at best. It's disappointing to see such a drop in quality at El Cholo.
