Wonderful spot in Old Pasadena. This seafood is very fresh and the dishes are really great. My favorite would be the crab rolls as well as the crab Louie salad. I have also had the sushi flight which is three hand-rolled rolls. This is a great appetizer to share. The deviled eggs are great too. If you're in the area and are craving fresh seafood, this is the place to go.
Tried the fish n chips and the clam chowder. Both were very delicious, but it was probably the best clam chowder I've had. The clam chowder was very fragrant and the broth had a good balance of saltiness and flavor. It included real clam shells which looked quite nice. The vegetables were not overcooked and nothing was overly chewy. Fish n chips were very meaty with a thin, crispy batter that was full of flavor. The French fries were thick cut and quite plentiful. Satisfying crunch with a fluffy interior and perfectly seasoned. Wish I had taken pictures, but I wanted to eat right away. Would come back for those items alone. Service was pretty standard and unremarkable. Food came out approximately 20 minutes after ordering which is fine with me. Expect to spend a pretty penny, with some items just slightly overpriced in my opinion. Overall, a must try for seafood fans.
4.5 food4 service4 ambienceWe are glad that we found this gem in Old Town Pasadena. The food was very good but of the dishes the chowder and crab Louie salad were the best. On the salad, the deviled eggs were a nice touch and the asparagus gave it a nice crunch. The dressing was good but the crab was excellent. I didn't try the oysters because I don't eat them, but I heard they were excellent ordered 6 different varieties. I ordered the Lobster roll but thought the flavor and the French fries were OK.The server didn't check on us much. We saw her when we ordered and when we paid the check. I had to ask for more water. The restaurant is small and parking may be hard to find. We were fortunate with the parking.
4.5 stars. Thoroughly enjoyed every single thing in this visit, everything was so delish and so fresh. We opted for a whole Maine lobster $29), a dozen oysters $41) and a crown city cioppino $35) to share. Crown city cioppino: Really good! Wehonestly loved the cioppino there, the broth was flavorful but not overly salty. And, the fish in the soup was so delish, theywere tender and buttery. This dish reminds me of bouillabaisse that we had in Southern France, probably one of the best we havehad. Maine lobster: It was delicate, tender, and sweet. It was served w/ cocktail sauce and grated horseradish, but I didn'tthink that it paired well w the lobster meat. A bit too overpowering in my opinion. I think it paired better w/ mignonette ormelted butter added paprika and some salt and pepper by choice), would recommend asking some from the restaurant. Oysters:Each oyster is around $3.50-$4, we opted for the chef's dozen oysters sampler, which came with 4 different kinds. They are Mistypoint VA), Coromandel NZ), Haven golds VA), and Beausoleil CAN). My fav was the Beausoleil from Canada, it was exquisite, mild brine and had a good hint of a cucumber note. Both Misty point Briny and earthy) and Haven golds fat as butter) werereally good too. We enjoyed the dozen sampler. Nicely picked. Not the cheapest but VERY satisfying! All in all, love thefreshness! The only suggestion would be the serving order, I just wish we could get the raw dish first instead of the cookedones. Will be returning soon. Tips: Ask for a booth seating if available, they are more comfortable than sitting at the bar orthe regular tables.
Avoid being seated outside at this restaurant; there's a good chance they won't assign a server to your table, leaving you waiting for a long time—up to half an hour. It’s better to wait for an indoor table where you can actually get someone’s attention. Once we finally managed to place our order, the food did come out quickly, but it was far from worth the wait. The oysters were small, and the rest of the dishes were just average. The salmon temaki was excessively salty, especially since we could have added soy sauce to adjust the flavor ourselves, and the fish and chips were soggy.
