Dish Cafe - Parkes
Dish Cafe
Description
Nestled near an iconic attraction, this cafe offers a mixed dining experience for visitors. While some patrons rave about the beautiful setting, good coffee, and a variety of options, others express disappointment in meal quality, limited menu choices, and subpar service. Families appreciate the kid-friendly atmosphere, spacious grounds, and freshly baked treats, yet critiques often mention inconsistency in food preparation and cleanliness. Despite the drawbacks, the stunning views and unique locale continue to draw guests, ensuring that the cafe remains a popular spot for breakfast and lunch. Overall, adjustments in food quality and service could elevate the experience significantly.

Absolutely fantastic! The presence of staff at the entrance is a brilliant touch; it made me feel secure while dining. The food was FRESH and expertly prepared! I had the pie, and the meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The salad was also delicious. The view is spectacular, especially with The Dish clearly visible—truly amazing! It's definitely worth the trip, even if you're not into science or Australian movies. I'll definitely return whenever I'm in the area again!
There was a bit of a wait to get in, as they were quite busy when we visited around noon. The grilled chicken wrap I ordered was delicious, although it didn’t come with fries, so I had to order those separately for an extra charge. The Coke I received was slightly warmer than I would have liked, but still drinkable. We will definitely bring the family back for lunch during our next visit. Just a tip: try to avoid going around noon and instead aim for about 1 PM. The view is fantastic; I never tire of looking through the telescope. I grew up in Parkes and have visited so many times—I've explored it all, yet I still enjoy returning.
I had a toasted focaccia sandwich and a cappuccino, and it was a fantastic experience! The setup was great.
A really great place to visit, would definitely recommend dropping in if you have the chance. It has been a good 30 years since my last visit, so it was great to see how far they've come. Price per person: A$20–40 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Parking options: Free parking lot
